Hi, Stephen. I don’t have a problem with converting the .avi to another format to prevent problems. Should I convert the .avi to Lagarith AVI with VirtualDubMod?

I’m running Windows 7 64bit. There is no way to uninstall a codec if it gives me problems? Why would a codec cause so many problems that I have to restore Windows 7? What are the kind of problems the system will experience if the codec is “bad”?

Mike, why do I need the Xvid codec if I can play the video with VLC Media player but it won’t load into Sony Vegas Pro 11?

Thanks for the response, Mike. I downloaded and installed MediaInfo. MediaInfo says the Codec for the .avi I can’t load into Sony Vegas Pro 11 is XviD.
