January 20, 2014 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Dodgy playback and horrendous output times recently in CChello peter,
we have a dual 6 core 48 gig K5000 T7600. boot is a SSD, media drive is a 3 SAS drives in RAID5 and a SSD render drive
i had to re-install and haven’t configured everything yet (caches, scratches, etc). im hoping we have some basic premier 101 problem i am just over looking.
the video comes from a micro scope, i asked the vendor for the name of it and the recording device. pretty sure it outputs into WMV 720p @ 60fps. which should not be a problem. also the rep told me that they are updating the firmware on both devices. once done this will allow for a few more choices in the future.
any thoughts?
update the microscope is a Leica and the recorder is a Medxchange

what should we do if we have a NVidia card? currently we are having a hard time viewing h.264 from one of our operating room microscopes.
it has been a while but the last time we had to use h.264 it was no problem. now we cannot even view a file within the program.
sit tight and wait for a fix or roll back to the previous version

January 13, 2014 at 10:52 pm in reply to: Dodgy playback and horrendous output times recently in CCi agree with Joe. my rig (Dell T7600) died and i had to have some major work done on it. we stopped editing videos. finally got back up and running and the first thing i did was update.
i cant even look at h.264 in premiere pro cc. something is up. it worked like a charm before the update.
i am sending in a bug report too as suggested.

in terms of installing one in a dell. make sure you go into the bios of the perc controller(if you order one H310 and 700 something)and change the device to being a “non RAID drive”
this helps a lot. my 840 pro 256 GB was not posting often.
as far as using it with the Black i will let you know in a few weeks after i use it.

side note question, i read in a separate thread that we should use a third party program to offload the files from the SSD.
is that true? the program in question is shotput pro

March 8, 2013 at 11:44 pm in reply to: Missing/Dropped Frames – Automator script or ideas to fill in gaps by duplicating other frames?it is a must to use a third party software program to copy this media over? are you sure it wasn’t more of an issue with the SSD this person used?

March 1, 2013 at 9:22 pm in reply to: BMC & Spherical Panos…I Want To Have My Cake And Eat It Too!!the support at borrow lenses is phenominal. i would start with them. they can answer a lot of your questions regarding cross compatibility and even help with your design process. ask for armando. plus you can turn around and rent something for relatively cheap before you invest all of your captail.

thank you alex, i believe it wsa you that helped me stick with the T7600 when harm tried preaching about DIY builds.
what you described is exactly what i was hoping for. i plan to shoot for the day and then bring the drive(s) back to the PC and install them and leave them in their until i need to shoot again.

i am hoping that it does. this would be ultra convenient.
currently i am using a Dell Precision T7600.
i have 8 internal bays that are ultra easy to access. the front panel swings open revealing 4 3.5 on the bottom and 4 2.5 drives on the top.
my config is as such:
Lower 3.5 bays
BAY 0 – Boot 256GB Samsung 840, from dell with OS and drives loaded
BAY 1 – 2 TB seagate enterprise drive RAID 5 1 of 3
BAY 2 – 2 TB seagate enterprise drive RAID 5 2 of 3
BAY 3 – 2 TB seagate enterprise drive RAID 5 3 of 3Upper 2.5 bays
Bay 4 – 256 GB samsung 840 Pro render driveall of these are in caddys that pull right out and snap back in to place. it would be so sweet if i could get a few more samsung 840 pros and use them with a BMCC and just put them in the caddys and slide them in and boom! they are recognized.
if you would like some pics i can email them.
