Hey Helge,
What is the rest of your config? Are they “stock” 570’s? Curious about OS and pci chassis you are using.
thank you,

Interesting. Comparable performance with the 580, but with more RAM and less power draw.

The first real project I did on my windows system was actually a 12min Epic short shot 5k…. and ended up as a 4k DCP. I used HD proxies. I don’t have a red rocket so there’s no way I’d even come close to 4k. Actually, since I only had a GTX 285 1gb I did the final output on my Mac system which has a more powerful GPU!
I worked in HD resolution 1920×1080 DPX. It was formatted 1.85 in the end. Also, I worked in rec709 not P3…. low budget and needed to have one master that looked the same for web, BD and DCP.
At some point… after 9 is out I’ll change out the 285 for a 6xx series. But, for HD res stuff it is great.

Actually, I’ve had great experience with an HP Z400…. 3.06gHz 4-core, 24GB, Q600 GUI, GTX285 GPU, LSI-SAS RAID PCI-e, DeckLink Pro HD, Win7 64…. also run Media Composer and some DCP apps on it. Good performance for HD res and SUPER easy to setup. Worked right out of the gate. Seriously, just as easy to setup as my Mac system… and I have a Dell 24in multi-touch monitor that’s pretty cool.. direct support in Win7. The system was less expensive then going DIY. The HP “Z” systems are the way to go IMO, if you need Win.

I have 2 systems that have 5770 + Decklink Pro HD and one with a Decklink Pro HD DL and it works ok. With 5,1 Mac Pro. I had a 4,1 like yours, but that had the Decklink + GT120 & GTX285… never had an ATI in the 4,1 Mac Pro.
Only thing I could think of is that its a power or corrupted driver issue? I know you said that it was a clean install, but you neve know. Try resetting the PRAM several times in a row. cmd+opt+P+R on reboot.

July 6, 2012 at 8:12 pm in reply to: Connecting Dream Color to Mac Pro and use Da Vinci. If you use the HP prob and calibrate the monitor you could use a LUT to setup the display. The monitor needs to be profiled to give you predictable results. You may want to do a grade then check it on a known reference monitor if you are able. That’s a tough one… depends what you are targeting the color for.
At the lease you will probably have issues in the blacks if you grade on that monitor in FULL if you are grading for rec709. P3 will be a disaster. For the web it would probably be OK’ish.
The “interlaced” thing and why the color processing won’t work is an arbitrary issue. It has to do with the color engine HP built into the monitor and that it can’t/won’t process interlaced frames. I’d guess that interlaced frames require more processing power then was available on the hardware that they put in. Other color management systems have no problems with interlacing.

July 6, 2012 at 7:16 pm in reply to: Connecting Dream Color to Mac Pro and use Da Vinci.OK…. so I also use a Dream Color as well. If the DC says “FULL” and will not allow you to change the color profile this means that one or both of the following conditions are present with regard to the signal going TO the DC.
1) Interlaced video of some sort… probably 1080i or 1080psf. The DC MUST have a true progressive signal. I have a BMD card that does not have HDMI so I must use the HDLink Pro.
2) Signal going TO the DC is not RGB.
If you are feeding the Dream Color anything other then a PROGRESSIVE, RGB signal you will not be able to use the color management built into the monitor. FInd a way to make the signal 1080p, RGB.
ALSO, in order to utilize the 10-bit color depth you must be connected to either the DisplayPort or HDMI. 10-bit is not available from any of the other ports. A few years ago someone from HP made a very detailed post in this forum… it is worth searching for.

I had to do the same for my gtx570 from them. I had to make a similar change for after effects as well.
