The easiest way to do this is to have a conversion program like Sorensen Squeeze. That will work just fine. There are also numerous freeware programs that can convert the file for you. The problem is that After Effects does not want to take the file because it is compressed and your quality level is very low with a WMV file.

From my experience, putting the render window over the video mya help a little but it is not a significant increase in efficency. The video card still has to figure out which pixels to show on the monitor and which ones to not display. Closing the window is much faster. What may be helpful is to save your project before you close the windows and render and then just re-open the saved file when the render is complete. That way, all of your windows will be arranged the way you like them.

This audio glitch is very common with DV. I don’t know if it is AVID or not but I have this problem all of the time. Here is what I have learned. First of all, the audio is probably only on one channel on the tape (i.e. only one mic). If this is the case, simply put the audio in the avid in stereo and turn off or delete the channel that is not being used. If this isn’t the case or it does not work, Adobe Audition 1.5 has special filters that are sepcifically designed to fix this problem.

I can’t use the color correction mode if I can’t find the scope in that mode either. It does me no good. I have a commercial that i sent out dubs of to 5 stations, They are saying it is too hot and I can’t see a scope on my computer to adjust it.

The footage looks bad everywhere. This includes on that computer, 3 other computers, 2 studio monitors, 5 portable DVD players, and client monitors. So, I know that the footage is actually being brightened in the transfer through the firewire. If I use my other AVID, everything looks great.

Stage plays are much harder to shoot. Firts of all, the lighting will present many interesting situations for you. On top of that, the audio may be a mess. And for a play to be interesting on the screen, you will need to edit in some close up shots because people are so used to seeing them in the movies. This means that both cameras will have to be manned . Just some things to consider. The price depends on what the market will bear.
