Here is the closest I’ve come so far. You’ll notice that the black band is barely affecting the red. How can I make the black band be ACTUALLY black??

That would be nice. Really I’m looking for a way to create mask paths based on alpha (or hue, or whatever) that I can then apply 3D stroke to.

Thanks but that’s what I’m trying to avoid. This is a 4 minute sequences with many shots and lots of movement.

I’d like it to follow the orange lines exactly. Really I’d like every bit of orange to be replaced by the stroke.

I’ve left it on Original Format which I think is DV/DVCPRO – NTSC.

I’m grading in Apple Color, sending to Final Cut Pro, then exporting straight from the timeline without altering the image at all in FCP.

I could touch up in Photoshop, that’s definitely an option, but I think I’d rather just make the images extra bright in Color. That might be the simplest option. I’m just curious as to why the image looks brighter in the editor than its exports.

Thanks for the response. Looking at both images on the same monitor, alt-tabbing between the two. FCP is version 7 and Snow Leopard is installed. Do you think I should just make a correction brightening filter and apply that to every image?

Yes they are. I’m wondering if maybe it’s a format issue. I captured them with the ProRes codec. Maybe the template can’t handle such a high resolution?
