Have you checked the wondertouch site for the PI downloads, yet? I recall one in there somewhere which had an emitter named time lapse clouds or something. You could also try to create your own by switching the color, angle, type, etc.. of one of the smoke emitters. If you combined a few together it could give a reasonably decent rolling clouds effect.

Hope this post isn’t to late.

Sorry, I sounded like an idiot there… I wasn’t looking at the program at the time of that post. Alan is right, there is no current support for non-square pixels…

Not that you should listen to me after that, but…

I would recommend doing your compositing in After Effects so as to avoid the trouble of pixel correction formulas and such. Again, sorry for the misleading post.

  • Finally got it…
I read a lot of reviews that mentioned the speed of the information as “too fast”. Don’t listen to them. With the short attention span I have, I was glad the progression took place so quickly. I got through the entire disc, with making my own versions of all projects, in a Saturday. Thanks, Aharon, this information really helped make a good impression during my first day on the job. My new boss was so impressed with the possibilities of Particle Illusion for the editing we do that he plans on working it into the budget next month. Thank god PI comes in all OS flavors.

  • Never easy as a 2D stunt, however, if you design an emitter (using the blank one available on the wondertouch site) that is a dark shard-shape with solid trail, it should be possible to make it branch off from the main stem while retaining its opacity.

If you’re doing real life shooting for this, try to stay as smooth and straight as possible to simplify the overlay a bit. Add your camera wiggle later in affter effects.

Might be a good Idea to also use several dust emitters in tandem with the crack to add a bit more realism.

    Hope that helps.

    P.S.
If you don’t already have it, I really recommend the Fusion DVD for tricks on using PI and AE together. Stunning.

Set your stage area to 740×480 with a pixel ratio of 1.2

thanks… I had it it figured out about an hour after my post (reading the manual helps)… but I appreciate your post, none the less.

  • 300k is standard for cable DL or streaming…

It looked alright but I agree with the second post in that, if you were using the reel to showcase your effects then perhaps some more variations of effects should be packed in at the beginning, but don’t listen to me.
