I cannot believe how ignorant we were about this camera six years ago. And anyone that thinks attaching a keyboard to the camera is not ‘kludgy…. getting the data onto the sd card is simple using the same software that is used to read the p2 card onto your computer. If you look at the Panasonic site it is explained quite clearly, and it doesn’t take much to do. AND you can have several files for different situations stored on the card to recall & use at any time.

In short, read the documents that come with your equipment, and life will be a tad bit easier.

I have the same issue with the XLR inputs.
We have tries nfeeding it a tone on ch 1 right & left, ch. 1 right ch. 2 left and even stuck a sm57 on it and nothing is coming through on the meter display of the switcher. and nothing to the outputs.

You think a P2 Card is expensive? I started in this field with a used Arri-16s. Try buying 400′ of 16 mm color film, THEN dump more money to process it, AND STILL NOT KNOW IF YOU GOT THE SHOT!

What you spent on your camera was a good price. But like getting a purebred dog, too bad you did not research how much it costs to feed it beforehand. In the big picture though, P2 IS reusable many times over. Think of it like a couple of cases of tape squished into your palm.

One thing to remember is that you don’t need to match the rpm with your frame rate, you just need to match the time of one blade moving into the position of the blade in front of it. For instance, you have a two blade fan with a rotation of 100 rpm, you only need to shoot 1/2 the rpm, not the whole revolution. With a four blade, whole, 1/2, 1/4, 3/4 of rpm. the same with five, six, or whatever blades.

You just need to do some math fractions and figure accordingly.
So if you are shooting a two wing/blade jet ranger revving @ 60 rpm, you can freeze the blade action at 1/60 or 1/30 fps. As someone else has said, you will probably need to test shoot like crazy to get the rate dead on & cross your fingers that all the variables remain consistent.
