November 20, 2020 at 1:17 am in reply to: PPro 2020 v14.5 – Copy/ Paste/ Undo/ Redo – LaggyIn a nutshell, the problem I have in 14.5 is that if I delete or add media to or from the existing media on the timeline there is a lag. It’s like the program has to ‘think’ for a moment before expanding or contracting the timeline to accommodate the command. Similarly, when I undo/ redo adding or deleting this media, there is a lag. This didn’t happen in CC2019 (13.1). But in that version, it did not instantly play media in the way 14.5 does.
Anyone?

November 19, 2020 at 10:38 pm in reply to: PPro 2020 v14.5 – Copy/ Paste/ Undo/ Redo – LaggyI’d really like to continue with 14.5 but I know the laggy copy/ paste/ undo/ redo in the LONG timelines I normally work in will suck and drive me back to CC2019.
CC2019 didn’t have this issue. But my issue in CC2019 was the time it took for the clip to play after hitting the space bar.
Does anyone know what the fix is in either (or both) of these versions? Please?

November 19, 2020 at 9:33 am in reply to: PPro 2020 v14.5 – Copy/ Paste/ Undo/ Redo – LaggyHi Again,

So I think I may have a better understanding of what is causing the laggy copy/ paste/ undo/ redo.

As I mentioned, my timeline is 11 hours long and when I copy/ paste/ undo/ redo in that long timeline (with many edited scenes), there is a laggy delay that was not there in PPro 2019.

As a test, I created another timeline with a fewer amount of edited scenes and there was much less lag when doing copy/ paste/ undo/ redo.
So I can imagine that I’m going to have to break the timeline down into smaller sections to avoid the lag. I would like to keep everything on one timeline as it help me visualize things.

As another test, I imported the timeline into a new project and the copy/ paste/ undo/ redo lag was present.

There must be some kind of difference in how the two versions of PPro handles copy/ paste/ undo/ redo in LONG timelines. Dang.
However, if anyone has any insight on how to overcome this challenge, I’d still certainly appreciate it!

Thanks again folks.
Ps. One thing for sure is that CC2020 14.5 takes a lot longer to open the same 50 MB project file.

May 18, 2016 at 11:13 am in reply to: Premiere Pro CC 8.2.0 – Not Saving Open Sequence Timeline Tabs From Last Edit SessionHi Tero, thank you for the reply and info.
I am on a early 2013 Macbook Pro running 10.8.5 and I have a very large documentary that I’m editing and had heard about issues in moving the project through firmware updates.
Also, I had read a lot of comments on OSX updates issues and those sort of put me off updating.
Can you honestly recommend what OSX build has the least issues with what build of PPro?
Kind regards and thanks!

Very well said Max! Thank you for stepping in here 🙂

Thank you for the extra insight Chris.
Seeing as I am running a NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M, it doesn’t sound like there will be any kind of difference in speed so I think I just going to continue on with OpenCL as a way to mitigate any issues I normal have with CUDA.
Also, can you or anyone comment of whether or not 2014.1 is better that 2014.2?

Hi Chris, thank you for the reply.
Can you tell me how to revert to 2014.1?
Also can you tell me if you are running CUDA in 2014.1 and if it makes any significant difference? As far as I can tell, on a Macbook like mine, this CUDA, OpenCL makes little or no difference. Of course I’d like to be proven wrong but for me it has only caused problems.
Thank you again for your time and participation here 🙂

After running on CUDA I can confirm that there have been problems. Hangs on closing project, Media pending etc. So I switched back to Open CL.
Maybe I need to update to 10.8.5 to mitigate this but I read that this update could cause my Mac to run as much as 30% slower so I’m not sure if I should do the OSX update. Can someone please confirm their experience on the best way to proceed?
Kind regards,
Jona
