I would guess that it is a due to the type of footage you are trying to playback and the graphics card in your machine that is trying to do the playback.
Some footage is very processing intensive to play without rendering. Most professional systems can achieve real time rendering by leveraging the graphics card for those processor intensive stuff.
What type of footage? File type? Codec?

I understand you position Jeff, and I have been there before. Think of a couple of things as you are making your decisions. Something like a rail system with follow focus, will be an investment that you will have for a long time. If you choose wisely, it will outlive your camera and could stay in your kit for as you move from 1080 to 2K to 4K to 10k to 20k… (you get the point).
I will also say that the follow focus is the most intricate part of your rig system here. I have never personally used the Indi system one, but I have heard good and bad things. But that piece of gear has to be very precise or you will see it in your shots. If the FF is loose or has some give to it, it will be in every shot you have. If I were to skimp on gear, it would not be the follow-focus.
That being said, gear isn’t everything. Glad to see you excited about the process at such an early age.

I have been using the 7D for about 3 years and I have had this happen on two occasions. What I think is the culprit (or at least the catalyst) in my cases, is when you stop recording and start recording too fast. I think the camera needs a few seconds to write the lead on the file you are recording to, and it you press START RECORD, right after STOP RECORD, I think the camera has errors writing the lead out for that file.The good new is that it is possible (although kind of expensive) to record the entire files that are corrupted. I believe the 7D and the 60D are almost the exact same when it comes to video capabilities so you shouldn’t have any issues there. The T2i and T3i do not have intermediate ISOs. So if you set your 7D to ISO 320, the closest the T2i could get would be 300, so those shots would look different.

Even if it will only be meant for web distribution, I see no reason to shoot in 720 instead of 1080. You can always output a 720 file from 1080 footage and there are plenty of situations where you can use those extra pixels to your advantage.
As far as frame rate: I believe most internet video players (Flash, HTML 5) are frame rate agnostic for the most part. If you want 24fps or 30fps, they can handle those.
For internet viewing progressive is better than interlaced, but otherwise I wouldn’t limit your footage your shoot based solely on the fact that it will be internet distributed.

Does that apply to Premiere Pro (.prproj) and After Effects (.aep) only or does that apply to AI, PSD, EPS, INDD, and other files?

To me the most disappointing thing is that not only is there not a adequately updated Mac Pro, but the 17″ MacBook Pro doesn’t even exist anymore. It just isn’t listed on their website anymore.

I think it makes sense.
We already have a permanent page for each video that is generated by our Content Management System. So I don’t think the the link or the embed code would be too difficult. I am just unsure of how to add the functionality to the Mediaelement.js plugin, so that we are able to create a button with those generated links. Does anyone have any experience modified these type of plugins?Thanks for your help.

The cameras you listed have convenient video functions (auto focus, audio controls, etc), but each one has a much smaller sensor than a DSLR. A DSLR on the other hand has a much bigger sensor than those on your list, but can be tougher to get good footage on it.
You will hear a lot of people talk about what DSLRs can’t do, and they are 100% right. But I focus more on what they can do. We have a Sony EX1 and Canon 60D at my company. And more and more I find myself choosing the 60D for a variety of situations because I know that if I do everything right, I can get some really quality shots out of it. (Which I can do with the EX1, but in my opinion, it is to a lesser extent.) And for shooting live music in a dark club, a DSLR is usually a good choice (low light, small size).
However, I will recommend that you think very hard about audio. Especially for live music, even if you image looks amazing, if your audio sounds terrible, it will ruin it. For live music shoots, quality audio is a higher priority for me than video.
As far as which DSLR to go with. I will put my 2 cents behind the Canon 7D.
