Hey Shane,
Sorry, I got slammed yesterday and am just getting back to you. I have cable thru Time Warner(Road Runner)…which is not the best…but typical of what my clients use (and the reason I keep it!) My website loads and plays fine thru my Mac. But when I go to my old PC to test, thats when I have issues. And my old PC is a Dell I used for editing with Premiere Pro three years ago before switching to FCP! So, I know it’s not the computer. I just worry that my new HD video… especially on scenes where there are pans, pulls and zooms… that the perspective client is going to see jumpy video that they assume is a result of my work!
I am also trying to get the most out of picture quality…in order to show off the hi def!
I had some trouble with a couple of your Narrative pieces on your website at first…but after I went and loaded the latest version of QT on my PC…that seemed to resolve the issue. Oh, by the way, awesome editing on the “Call 911” piece! The cutaways really gave impact to how the EMT was relating his emotions towards the little girl…you got me to tear up man!!!
If I may, a few more questions:
Why are you not using the .flv extension in Compressor…don’t you get grief from clients about having to deal with QT?
Are you going in and “tweaking” the video settings of the QT lan preset in compressor?
Do you try to stay with a 640 X 360 screen size for streaming? I like that size and would hate to have to go smaller.
What do you set for average and max data rate?
Is there anything else I am missing?
Thanks for your time Shane.

Thanks Shane. I like your website! I’m afraid that your clients have better connectivity with T1 lines etc. A lot of my corporate clients here in Raleigh are using DSL and cable for their access. And some of them won’t go near QT files! So, it looks like I am going to have to use the .flv change in Compressor and then try to find a display size and frame rate that won’t take to long to load and play smoothly.
If you know of any changes I can make to the H.264 streaming presets in Compressor…would you let me know? Thanks again for your help.

Shane,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, H.264 is working…but I can not find the right settings in compressor…either pull down or custom that gives me a smooth video out of mobile me when streaming.
Any help would be appreciated! And I would love to see your web site. Do you host from mobile me and author with iweb like I am trying to do? Or can you recommend an easter more effecient workflow? Thanks,

Thanks Shane,
The view all frames worked. But on the new Mac Pro Command F12 doesn’t…it just raises the volume. I think the guys in One to One training at the Apple Store assigned the full screen command to the Y key when I bought the computer.
