You can run them both, but I have found in the past that the ATEM is VERY particular about an HDMI input from a computer. All the paramiters have to be correct. Therefore, if it doesn’t work, then look at an SVGA-HDMI converter box, as that soles the problem

Hope I can help you a bit. 4 cameras into Atem 1 on SDI. Are you running HD-SDI or SDI as the mixer will only do one at a time.
HDMI into mixer for PC. Well it sometimes works, but depends on the computer that you are using as the source. WE have a couple of TC-ONE SVGA-HDMI scaler units whach are about £150. They work a treat! Much easier than trying to get HDMI to work and for projector cable you just need a onventional SVGA Distro box.
Recording onto Ninja 2, should be no problem. We use a Samurai all the time.
As for streaming, you can’t do it without other kit. You might look at the H.264 encoder box from Blackmagic, or you could use a PC with either an HDMI or SDI Capture card.
I would try your windows 8 machine. I have seen it work even though it’s not supported.
We have 2 ATEM 1 machines. The main one is used with a 20inch touchscreen PC as its control, and that really works. The 2nd unit is Radk Baged with a Hyperdeck recorder, and I use a small Netbook to control it. The 6U Bag is big enough for the Atem, Hyperdeck, Netbook, Scaler and SVGA Distro, and all the PSU’s.
All the best.

If you run a Genlock signal feed to the ATEM and your cameras you will improve the situation as well. Our unit is now at 0 frames delay in HD and 1 frame delay on conversion to HD Component. Even a straight PAl sd out is acceptable.

Hi,
No its not a problem because the unit that I use converts the SVGA into an HDMI signal either at 1080 or 720 or an sd signal. As long as you make sure that the scaler is set to the correct resolution and frame rate for the ATEM, it works a treat.

The way that I would do it is to take a SHGA to Cat 5 converter which costs about £90 for a pair of units. These converters have an SVGA in and out as well as the cat 5 link. Therefore its put between the laptop and the projector, and I then run Cat 5 to the Blackmagic control position. Its then converten back to SVGA and I then use the box that I have talked about earlier in the thread.
Another way would be to Use a SVGA Splittr box (1 in 2 out) a the laptop end, and to then have a long SVGA Cable back to my converter. This would probably be a cheaper method as long as you don’t need more than 25m of cable.

I have just installed the 2.6 update and can’t get either Media Express or Ultrascope to work. The upgrade all went OK and the software installed to the main unit OK. I have checked the NEC Chip software as well to make sure that it is OK.
Has anybody seen this all working?

Tony,
I have no idea, but whoever made it, they have two happy customers!

Tony,
Thanks for that. I have now solved the problem by the purchase of a TV One IT-VS-624 Scaler which costs £183.60 inc Delivery. This works in both 1080 and 720 and allows you to keep the aspect ratio of the image. As regard the set up, I quite agree. The ATEM does not allow the unit to automaticially set the ratio, so the monitor is needed. However the Menu on the scaler is really easy to use.
The switcher is a really good product. We are using 2 Canon XF 305 and 2 Canon XF 105 cameras with it. The recordr should be delivered next week and will ba a Atmos Samuri unit recording in either Hd-SDI or SDI.

Thanks very much indeed for this.
I have to say that your product is exceptional in it’s quality and price. Well done. -
Thanks for this. Problem is that we have to use signals from computrers in University Lecture halls where all we can get is a feed from the SVGA output!
