    apologies for the late reply. My project contains quicktime animation codec movs which are referenced off a Toshiba HDD. I have an nvidia geforce graphics card and I7 processor on my laptop. I no longer have access to the lab pcs as my course has finished so I’m using my other desktop pc which is pretty old. Same problem when I tried to render out the project on it though. I’m using CS4 on both machines. The lab PCs used CS5. I think its a setting somewhere in the software that could be causing this.

    PS: I’ve used a matte choker for this footage to get rid of those lines, it looks ok, its a pretty fast moving film piece so I’m wondering, if the other 3 footage files are deinterlaced will it be noticeable?

    Question is it possible to get rid of jagged edges from footage which cant be de-interlaced?

    Details: I’ve found out that de-interlacing stuff thats been rendered from the original file is impossible. The scan line method works, just needed to turn up my resolution quality and zoom in a specific amount. I did this project a while back, when I had no idea about de-interlacing and didn’t notice anything wrong with the footage. However everything else (the cg) came together nicely so I want to include it on my showreel, its the best work I’ve done so far minus the footage problem. However I’ve lost one of the original aep files which was quite elaborate, it cant be replicated in the short time I have to hand in this showreel.

    those are the scan line images which are showing up white. However the main problem is deinterlacing already rendered footage, lossless I think?, as they are iffs. Is some kind of data lost in the process which prevents deinterlacing of iffs which have been rendered from the original mov files? I ask this because if so I would be forced to re render everything again from square one and re do rotoing etc. A lot of work in other words I’d like to avoid.

    that works! I had tried this solution 4 days ago but the image sequence wouldn’t run because off the naming convention mismatch between AE and Maya for iff sequences. Thanks for all the help, much appreciated.

    Was wondering is it possible to track the cg footage layer in AE and parent the gs footage to the cg layer? I remember seeing this once but can’t remember how to do it or if its even applicable in this instance.

    thanks for the tutorial, I’ve experimented with the locators, set both the ma file and comp to have the same resolution etc butthe locators are huge in AE, bigger than the comp screen. Basically in the maya scene I have four locators placed at each of the windows in the building for the gs footage to be placed but they don’t really match with the camera movements. They scale out of sync with the zooms.

    In relation to “pulling the key”, do you mean to take the camera data from the gs footage and match the camera movements in maya to it?
