That would only work if both tracks were being animated. They are not. His lower track is a movie. That requires motion tracing software.

Graham, I believe what Ellie is trying to do is map a static image onto a moving video. To do this in an easer way would require Motion Tracking software that tracks perspective. Those are expensive like Boris Continuum Complete or Mocha Pro.

The cheap way is the hard way which is to move frame by frame and keyframe the motion in Pan/Crop. There is no short cut. You need more keyframes to keep everything in sync.

Here is a tutorial on using Match Move in Boris Continuum Complete but that doesn’t track perspective and the buildings are moving not only sideways but away into the distance which requires perspective tracking.

You just answered your own questions. Many pro’s have always used Mac’s but the Mac is gaining in popularity with non-pros as well while Windows sales are declining so it’s a simple case of supply and demand. I moved to the Mac 4 years ago so I actually enjoy the trend. 😉

Sorry I don’t have a camera recommendation. I haven’t purchased a new camera in quite some time so I’m still shooting HDV and AVCHD.

If you know anything about color grading you would know that it comes last which should tell you right there where to start first. 😉

BTW, first you should do color correcting, then color matching, and then finally color grading. Color correcting and matching can be done in Vegas Pro before you editing. Color grading should be done as a last step with an export from Vegas Pro to Resolve if that’s what you want to use. Then import back into Vegas Pro to finish your edit.

Save your project using the AAF format going to Resolve and back. Google: “vegas pro resolve workflow” and you’ll find lots of videos to show you how.

Yes. There is always loss when you render (unless you use a lossless codec) so this is to be expected. Whatever you do in Resolve must be baked into the video via a render step but you probably won’t notice any loss as long as you use a high bitrate.
