It’s a shame that after all these years Vegas Pro doesn’t have such a basic function as zooming into the preview window. I use this a lot in Final Cut Pro X to make accurate placement when doing things like motion tracking or needing to see how a particular effect like sharpening is affecting the image. Hopefully MAGIX will focus on filling in core missing features rather than wasting time supporting the latest 3D craze like Sony did.

Yea, If you are on a PC I would recommend Boris RED from Boris FX. RED can even load many AE plug-ins. Most of what you can do in AE can be done with Boris RED.

If you are on a Mac, I would use Apple Motion. Best part is that Apple Motion 5 only cost $49 USD and it’s tightly integrated into Apple Final Cut Pro X. That’s another reason I moved to the Mac. Way more choices for creatives. 😉

Adobe Media Encoder ==> Apple Compressor
Adobe Encore ==> Apple DVD Studio Pro

My workflow is complete “Adobe free” and “subscription free” (and “Microsoft free” as well). 😀

Instead of just stretching it, try make the duration of the Generated Media longer. Open the ProType Titler and at the top you’ll see the frame size of the video and an entry field that is labeled Duration. It’s probably set for 00:00:10;00 (10 seconds). Make it longer and the text should stay on the screen longer. Of course once you make it longer you will need to extend the event to match the same length.

I run Vegas Pro on my Mac using VMware Fusion or Bootcamp. I also use Final Cut Pro X.

You guessed correctly. Those video cards are absolutely anemic by today’s standard. It’s not even woth wasting a slot on one of them.

Vegas Pro’s minimum requirement is for a GPU with 512MB memory so the Radeon HD 2400 Pro and Radeon HD 3450 don’t even meet minimum requirements (i.e., they are useless and won’t be recognized).

There is no hardware combination that is going to work for you with MainConcept. It is an old outdated encoder and MAGIX needs to realize this and update the Vegas Pro encoders to take advantage of modern graphics cards. Until then, the only thing that works is equally old hardware. I would wait and see of MAGIX fixes this in September or just reships the old outdated encoders that you have today. Only time will tell.

I went from a AMD Radeon HD 5780 that worked great with MainConcept to a AMD Radeon HD 7950 that stopped working because it was too new. So a better graphics card worked worse with Vegas Pro. Go figure. Hopefully MAGIX sees the problem with this that Sony didn’t.

There is one in Boris Continuum Completed called BCC 3D Extruded Image Shatter that will do exactly what you want. It also comes in the Boris Continuum Unit 3D Objects if you don’t want to buy all of BCC.

As Wayne pointed out, if you are in North America or Japan your TV standard is NTSC 30/60 fps. If you are in Europe, Australia, or other pars of the world, your TV standard is PAL 25/50fps. (If you are in France it’s SECAM but we won’t go there…) You should use the format appropriate for your camera and country format.

To answer your question directly, I doubt that the human eye can detect any different over about 48fps. 50 and 60 were choosen because they are double the 25 PAL and 30 NTSC standards.

The Project will retain the properties of the project settings. So if you set up the project to be interlaced, Vegas will keep everything interlaced. How you render the project is completely a separate thing. You can render it as interlaced or progressive. But setting the project properties to be interlaced and selecting an appropriate deinterlace method (like Blend Fields) will keep everything interlaced throughout the editing process.
