Check that there are no audio files associated with the slides. Select the Document pallet in the upper right, then select the Audio tab and check if there are any audio files in the list. If there are, remove them.

Are you using the ASIO drivers for those sound cards? Vegas Pro was designed to give low latency using ASIO but you have to set the driver in Options | Preferences | Audio Device to the ASIO driver that came with your card (which you need to install).

You can right-click on any point on the Volume Envelope and change the fade type.

Use another track. There is no way to “turn off” Track FX. This is why there are unlimited tracks. Just move those clips to a new track without the FX.

You can still transition clips across two tracks. Just apply the same transition to the top and bottom clip and they will still blend together. Create a Fade first and then drop the transition into the fade.

You need ASIO drivers if you want to do multi-track recording in Vegas Pro without latency. It’s that simple. Buy yourself an audio device with ASIO drivers and you should be fine. I’d recommend the PreSonus AudioBox USB. It’s an awesome little box for audio.
I would stay away from anything M-Audio. While I’ve recommended M-Audio for years and they do make great hardware, their driver support (or rather lack of it) has left me cold. M-Audio has a nasty habit of abandoning their hardware leaving customers with little more than a “door stop”. I have a perfectly good M-Audio Firewire 410 that doesn’t have Windows 10 or macOS drivers so it is now completely useless. I have a friend that has an M-Audio Firewire 610 in the same position. DO NOT buy from M-Audio unless you want to throw out a perfectly good device because they stop making drivers for it! By comparison I have a PreSonus FireStudio Project that I bought around the same time as the M-Audio Firewire 410 and PreSonus still make drivers for it. So I can’t in good conscious recommend M-Audio anymore.
Once you have an audio device with ASIO drivers, the latency problem will be gone.

It is not possible to set the audio codec because Vegas Pro always uses the highest quality which is to record PCM which doesn’t use a codec at all.

I agree but that’s about as close as Vegas Pro gets. You might want to look at BCC Cross Zoom in Boris Continuum Complete. There are also other Blurs in BCC that you can use.
If you want that *exact* effect… buy a Mac and get Final Cut Pro X… that’s what I did! You’re not going to find the ecosystem of plug-ins for Vegas Pro like FCP X has. That’s one of the reasons I moved to FCP X. The number of high quality plug-ins to choose from is staggering. I have several of MotionVXF’s plug-ins. If you want them, you need to use FCP X.

What is the format of the drive you are rendering to? If it’s FAT32 (like an external USB drive would be) this is why it is stopping at 3.99gb of video exactly (because FAT32 has a 4GB file size limitation).

So why aren’t you just upgrading in place? That would be the simplest solution. Take a disk image as a backup just in case something horrible goes wrong and then upgrade to the new OS from the App Store. That’s what I do every time a new version of macOS comes out and I haven’t had any problems and never had to re-install anything. Everything that was on your hard drive before is still on your hard drive. Only the OS gets upgraded with any of it’s apps.
That is easiest way.
