Then you want Filmic Pro! This is a serious app for video recording on the iPhone and it will use the frame rate that you set. I wouldn’t shoot video that will be edited without it.

Yes, the Apple Intermedia Codec is only available on a Mac.

MPEG Streamclip or Apple Compressor are probably the two that most people would use. The former is free while the latter can be found in the Apple App Store for $49.

That is the only solution other than buying a Mac. Vegas Pro uses the 32-bit QuickTime for Windows which severely limits the number of MOV files that you can work with. No way around it but to convert them to a Windows native format. Glad to see you got it worked out.

That screen shot tells the whole story: Your problem is that the file uses the Apple Intermediate Codec which is not supported on Windows.
Apple Intermediate Codec is an old intermediary format used by Apple but is no longer popular in favor of Apple ProRes codec. Find someone with a Mac to convert it to Apple ProRes 422 for you (or even MPEG4 AVC/H.264) and you should be fine. In fact, perhaps the person who sent it to you might be able to do this for you if they have a Mac.

If it won’t play in QuickTime Player then it won’t play in Vegas Pro because Vegas uses QuickTime to decode the movie. The only exception is Vegas Pro 14 and the ProRes codec but all other codecs require QuickTime.
MediaInfo shows that it’s an MPEG4 file so it’s odd that the QuickTime Player won’t play it because it supports AVC/H.264 MPEG4.
In the QuickTime Player, go to Windows | Show Movie Inspector and see what codec QuickTime thinks it’s using.

Great! I don’t think you’ll have any problem with the 1TB HGST Touro S via USB 3.0 then. Just make sure it’s the 7200 RPM version for fastest access.
I use two of them: One contains the all of my Camera Card Archives and the other has all of my Libraries. This way if something happens to either, I have the other as a backup. You might not need that for school but it’s something to get in the habit of doing (i.e., backing up your camera cards separate from your project work) as you go forward. Good Luck!

I edit on these drives all the time and they are plenty fast enough. I would recommend them without hesitation. The question is does your school computers have USB 3.0 ports or USB 2.0 ports because USB 2 will be too slow.
