SVP 12/13 and MOV files
This driving me insane! I load MOV files. They preview ok and play ok. I go to some other part of the time line, but when I go back to the MOV, the preview is black, what the? I am running the latest version of QT 7.79 and also tried 7.65. Occasionally I get media offline for the MOV files.
I have literally 100’s of these files given to me off iPhones and iPads. Any suggestions of what I can do, besides get a Mac and FCP 🙂

I bit the bullet and used ffmpeg and QWinFF to convert all the files in-situ in batch and then replaced the MOV files with their MP4 equivalents on the timeline. Solved!

Iphones recorder with variable fps to adjust expouser! Try to converter your .mov files with HandBrake. Filmic Pro is a great app for Iphones, if you want to record constant fps.

That is the only solution other than buying a Mac. Vegas Pro uses the 32-bit QuickTime for Windows which severely limits the number of MOV files that you can work with. No way around it but to convert them to a Windows native format. Glad to see you got it worked out.

QWinff is by no means perfect. As I discovered, my iPhone adjusts the frame rate in low light situations and the strobing and visual noise was very bad when there was lots of panning and fast movement. Static or slow moving shots were generally okay after conversion. I need to find an iPhone app that allows me to fix the fps to 50!
Or buy and Mac and go FCP!

Then you want Filmic Pro! This is a serious app for video recording on the iPhone and it will use the frame rate that you set. I wouldn’t shoot video that will be edited without it.

That will open up a whole other world of creative possibilities that you don’t have today with Vegas Pro (but that’s another conversation). 😉
