Hi Faraz, Unfortunately, I haven’t been using Vegas Pro for the past 3 years. Version 12 was the last version I used and then I moved the Mac and have been editing with Final Cut Pro X ever since. I have no idea why Vegas Pro is still crashing for you but an Unmanaged Exception (0xc0000005) could be a corrupt file.
I would suggest you start a new thread and get some new eyes on it from people who are still using Vegas Pro in this forum.
Other that that, I would have bought a Mac instead of another Windows laptop but that’s another story. lol ????

According to this article: Blackmagic Design announces new disk formatting update for Blackmagic Cinema Camera and Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera that camera supports two formats, ExFAT and HFS+. You can select either format from the camera and apparently Blackmagic has no issues with formatting the card with your Mac and actually encourages formatting HFS+ for Mac users because you will get better performance.
Have you tried both formats? and also try formatting with your Mac (contrary to my original post).

I’m having no problems reading SD cards with High Sierra but it’s odd that it worked on your friends Mac.
I would not attempt to format an SD card with your Mac. Either format it with your camera or use a utility like SD Card Formatter which is what I use.
If the card has a lock tab, make sure it is unlocked. It may have gotten moved a bit to one side or the other which is causing the format to fail.

It shows you how to install Windows on an external USB 3.0 drive for use with a Mac. If you’re developing for a Windows device it’s best to use Windows. That means installing Windows natively on your Mac hardware using Bootcamp or using that external hard drive option. I assume there are 3rd party libraries that work on Mac and from your post it sounds like you are aware of them but they broke on High Sierra.
The path of least resistance is to simply use Windows. Then you will have the access to the entire Kinect Windows SDK and Microsoft development ecosystem.

One of the things that totally blew me away when I bought my first used Mac was that, unlike a Windows PC, you can install a new blank hard drive as the only drive and the Mac will still boot! It boots into a recovery mode and downloads the version of OS X from Apple that was licensed originally to the hardware and you are up and running without needing any other media. It’s a simply brilliant concept that was so foreign to me as a former Windows user where everything is a major ordeal.
The Apple end user experience never ceases to amaze me.

For a hardware RAID there is no difference. Placing a hardware RAID in JBOD mode turns off the RAID controller for those disks so that you can manage the disks independently. I don’t know if it means the same thing to SoftRAID as I’ve never used SoftRAID.

Not with a hardware RAID. They will still present themselves as individual disks to be formatted separately. You can make them look like one big Logical Volume by spanning them. I don’t know if SoftRAID acts as a Local Volume Manager in JBOD mode. You would have to ask SoftRAID support. If it does, they do look like one big disk because an LVM takes several Physical Volumes and makes the one Logical Volume to the OS but I’m not sure what the recovery procedure is if one disk fails. It would be better in my view to just mount them as individual disks so that if one fails you only loose that one volume unless SoftRAID says that their JBOD mode does the same.

Unfortunately I’m not familiar with SoftRAID. I have an AppleRAID controller in my Mac Pro which is a hardware RAID. JBOD stands for “Just a Bunch Of Disks”. It is a way to turn off the RAID controller on a set of disks so that you can manage them separately. I would imagine that JBOD in SoftRAID would be the same thing but I’m not sure since I’ve never used that software (sorry).

It will be slower. Whether you can feel it or not depends on how big the files are that you are editing. If they are small enough for a single drive to handle then using a 4 drive RAID won’t provide any noticeable speed benefit because disk I/O is not your bottleneck. If, however, you are editing files large enough to have a multi-disk RAID be beneficial, then using only one disk will be slower.
