You could use the track fade colors but you have to insert a Fade To envelope in order to us it. Then just use the envelope to do the fading.

Of course, the only reason you get black between events is because there is nothing there. If you added a track below with a White Solid Color Generated Media all of the fades and gaps would be white because the bottom-most track is white media.

Well, grass blowing… water falling… smoke flowing… lots of any motion are challenging for HDV. The MPEG-2 stream falls apart rather rapidly under these conditions. I was shocked when I first saw it but even a water fall on HDTV shows compression artifacts because there just isn’t enough bits to represent what is there. Perhaps this is what you are seeing.

Yes, but it’s unavoidable. DVD’s only support MPEG-2 so that’s what you have to work with. You should not be seeing much of a difference in quality at all.

Glad you figure the audio piece out. Both AC3 and PCM are valid for DVD audio.

Are you sure you rendered your WAVE file in a compatible format? There are lots of ways to render a non-compliant WAVE file. DVD PCM audio uses a 48K sample rate rather that the 44.1K of CD’s. If you rendered your WAVE file at 44.1K that’s why DVD Architect needs to re-encode it.

It looks like you have a corrupt installation. You are missing all of the Sony plug-ins. I would completely uninstall and re-install. If they still don’t show up, I would contact Sony technical support.

Then you have manually changed your default track properties in Vegas because they usually come up with 3 standard FX. No worries, just click on Sony in the Plug-in Chooser window and then click on Track EQ and press the Add button and then OK button.

What might be happening is that the PC players are not smart enough to check that the video is not using square pixels and therefore when it displays the 1.2121 pixels aspect of DV widescreen as 1.000 you get a less wide image. The only way to ensure this doesn’t happen is to render a PC version that uses square pixels and adjust the width of the video accordingly (i.e., 873×480).

You should be using one of the Blu-ray video stream templates in Vegas Pro 8.0 and then render your audio separately using the AC3 render type. The AVCHD templates are under the Sony AVC render type. If you keep the names of the files the same (except for the extensions) DVD Architect will associate the audio with the video.

This is the nature of subclips. They behave like real media so their in and out points mimic the real ends. The advantage is that you can drag the end and make it loop (which you can’t do just by trimming) but as you have seen, there are no handles to trim further. There is no way around this.

As for the flicker, you are correct this is an interlace problem. Since the device you are previewing on is interlaced, there is no way around this. Even if you told Vegas to deinterlace the output the TV would still interlace it again because this is the only way it can display it.
