My guess is the next FCPX will be heavily optimized to work with those very GPUs…
I wouldn’t see them going with Nvidias cards which would be great for Adobe users. -
Avid doesn’t test AMD. Who knows what it will do?
He’s saying its best to use what Avid recommends, as Avid is a very demanding application on your hardware. -
No. It works fine here.
Is it possible that you have to do something different operationally than you did on the older version. I don’t remember much about v3.x, honestly.
Open MC help and go through it step by step and see if anything is new to you.

You can transfer the database files and it will often work fine…however rebuilding them is sound practice.
Make sure you maintain the correct folder structure when moving stuff to the new drive.
You can have multiple media folders (numbered “1”, “2”, etc) within the MXF folder. If you have many folders numbered ‘1’, it is okay to rename them another number. Avid will figure it out. -
Since FCP has been discontinued for more than 2 years, you are going to find most workflow info will be several years old..

Is the audio tool set to Direct Out (or one of the surround options) or Stereo ?
Also click the little triangle at the top of the timeline, near the timecode…it will open additional audio controls, including the area you can set RTAS plugins for the track. Also there is a button where you can disable the track. This is different than the mute button, which is always visible.
