If you want to use the mixer with keyframes (rubberbanding), set it to auto (automation gain) and then use gang like Phil suggested. I still prefer the old behavior and would love to have it back.

No version of Avid currently supports El Capitan. You will have to hold off until some time after New Years for El Cap support. You will probably have to upgrade to v8.x. Version 8 has no issues opening v4.5 projects (I have opened stuff quite a bit older than that).

For what it’s worth, I upgraded the processors in my 2009 Mac Pro to make it a 12 core 2.93 GHZ beast. It’s not for the faint of heart, as great care must be taken to avoid crushing the pins on the processor tray must be taken. Apple used lidless processors on the 2009 Mac Pro. You are replacing them with standard Intel processors with lids, which changes the height of the heat sink. If you over tighten the heat sink, you crush the pins on your processor board.

Drag the lower right corner of the record monitor out to the right (resizing it to make it bigger, temporarily). The source monitor should magically reappear. Then carefully resize the dual monitor window to the desired size.

If HD, try rendering at DNX 220.
Dont judge by the computer screen. It’s not showing full resolution, particularly when paused. -
Under normal conditions, MC doesn’t use anywhere near 32gb of RAM. Might be worth it if you also run After Effects, but unlikely you are using documents,large,enough to make much difference in Photoshop for video.

Probably won’t help much unless you use multiple programs at once. MC won’t really use that much RAM. What you are asking about is more related to drive throughout and processor speed,
Resist the temptation to edit with Linked media (formerly AMA). Transcode to DNXHD and your performance will be dramatically better,
