    Thanks Bret,

I’m afraid I’m going to have to sell a lot of those 30 second spots before another upgrade takes place. Saving my pennies for that Nucleo program I’m reading about. Although, last night I downloaded the trial and it crashed AE. Now AE won’t even open without crashing. Go figure. If you have a magic bullet in your arsenal I’d take it; right between the eyes…

    I just got the same advice from the folks over on the apple thread about nucleo so it looks like my answer will be another $50 bucks. Sure hope my numbers come up tonight:}

    Really appreciate all your help.

    Thanks Kevin,

The machine has 4 cores and 8 gigs. I’m using AE 6.5. Does that mean I can’t get the other 3 to work?

    Thanks Tory,

I’m running a quad 2.5GHz mac, which I should have stated in the post. No other programs/projects seem to be running while the rendering is going on. What else can I check?

    Thanks,

Thanks for the advice but I erased it, lost it and I’ll, hopefully, be more wiser the next time. Also lost all my addresses.

Howdy and thanks for your suggestions. At this time I have performed an erase and install and am downloading the 4.11 I’ll know soon if anything is going to work or not. Would you know if I can recapture my bookmarks or does that go away with the wind?

    Thanks again

Wow! I should check my inbox more often, but then, I just wiped out the hard drive for medical purposes and am using my wife’s pc…

I really appreciate y’all’s feedback on this topic. I’m out here in the desert with the spiders and snakes and a lot of rich oil millionaires and starving to death (snake meat, contrary to popular opinion, does NOT taste like chicken). What I’d hoped for was something along the lines of: “Gosh! Why didn’t I think of that?!” Or, “That’s the most stupid-est concept I ever heard!” But no, your inputs were thoughtful, insightful and, dare I say, entertaining…

So here’s the deal; Youse guys/gals are the best at what youse do, right? Right. I’ve stuck a couple of things up on youtube (cuz I have waay too much time on my hands). If any of you get the chance, or have a burning desire, to watch what a snake charmer/gourmet chef is doing, I wish you would go there, search for ‘juanfordroad’ and come back with your opinions as to whether or not I should continue or take rich oilmen out on snipe hunts for big bucks.

There, I said it and I’m not ashamed. A bit off center maybe, but not ashamed.

Thanks for your support,,, or not….

    Thanks for your reply.
I was recently asked to reinstall OSX 10.4 along with the .11 update by Apple tech support for a problem I was having with IWorks. In doing so, it fixed the problem but possibly caused a lot more. I was unable to open Compressor or Photoshop and, for a time, unable to access the Apple online forums. I reinstalled Compressor and Photoshop after deleting everything I could find with those names in apps., prefs., etc. Now Compressor works but in trying to burn the results in DVD Studio Pro I was unable to do so. Photoshop still does not open. I saved the error logs for both and can provide them, if that would help.

G5 Quad, Tiger 10.4.11, 500GB HD, 320GB HD, 4GB RAM, FCS 5/updates included, Photoshop 7/updates included, After Effects 6.5/updates included.

Update: Wiped the big drive last night as that’s where everything was. Copied as much as I could to the small drive. Reinstalled from the system disk and started downloading the .11 update. This morning my screen said 28 days left for downloading the 181mb file! After several bad words, I stopped it and started it again. Left for work, came back and the time remaining was moving up as the kb/sec. moved down. So much for high speed DSL. So here I sit with a half empty drive, no update, unable to reload any programs since they require the update, and pondering the benefits of fountain pens, paper and stamps (lost my email too and don’t remember the ‘secret codes’ to find it again).

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks again.
