    Hi Tom,

    Thanks for your post.

It was done on the computer at work and the new upgrade for FCP studio software. I’ll let you know next week when I have time to try it.

Have you had similar experiences? I’ve had very long renders in the past doing it this way, as opposed to using Photoshop for the graphics and AE for the animations, which are much quicker. My AE software at work is the 5.5 pro bundle and has trouble importing the audio. That’s why I went with Motion this time.

    Thanks again.

    Thanks Steve,

Spoke with one yesterday and they said it was so labor intensive they might be interested. Know where I could find a good, reasonable program? Does Quicktime or someone else do that?

    Thanks again,
    John

    Hi Dave,
Just checked and I did get the update to 7.4.1. Wish that were the fix…

    Thanks for your reply,
    John

    Thanks Peter,

I’ll give it a try and report back. The other thing I was thinking about it cutting the animation in half and rendering both halves. Do you think the small amount of ram could be a problem, or maybe something in the preferences?

    Thanks again,

Finally found it. I hit some shortcut button and caused the screen to only see the alpha channel.

    Thanks anyway…

    Thanks Steve,

Been trying to figure this out for some time. Your suggestions really help.

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the ‘encouraging words’…

What? No Partridge in a Pear tree?

Guess next time I create a monster like this, I’ll arrange for a long, quiet weekend with the honey at some beach resort, and leave the rendering home alone with the kiddos and hope reddy killowatt hangs around till it’s done.

The activity monitor just shows CPU activity, along with the other stuff, not multiple CPU’s, right? Uninformed minds want to know…

    Thanks again, Bret,

The spot is an animation piece I put together with lots of things flying around, lights and shadows, motion blurs, bevels and the like. The first one took over 4. Then I got onto all that extra material I didn’t need and knocked off an hour. Something tells me, though, I’m still not seeing the horsepower this thing is capable of. Maybe a switch, preference, something. Anyway, I appreciate your comments and assistance.

Good news. Trashing the preferences allowed for a successful startup on AE. So at least I haven’t lost any more ground…
