This happened to me with GH2 files (.mts) and somehow the file association had been set to Unix Executible. When this happens Premiere Pro won’t recognize the file and will give this error. Ctl+click on file, choose open with, select Premiere Pro and select always open with this program. That should fix the problem. You don’t need to import the entire structure to open MTS audio and video in PP, but it is recommended as some NLE programs (FCP) need the additional information. Also make sure you didn’t inadvertently change the file suffix, e.g. to something like MTS 2 which can happen if you copy a duplicate file name to the same folder. Good Luck!

  • Update on Raid in 2008 Macpro 3.1

Installed 1882X, driver and webGUI software, configured Raid-5 (5-1T drives), created raid (quickly compared to HP), mounted and partitioned – absolutely no issues, backed up four internal and one external Macbook Pro, cloned system disk and reinstalled on SSD – Highly recommended!

Software, tech support first rate, latter by engineers, not sales reps who would rather sell you a newer, presumably equally non-functional product.

    Thanks to all advice.

  • Thanks. I have ordered an Areca 1882xi12, so I can replace my Apple raid card as well as drive the 8 drive ProAvio enclosure (using an 8087 to 8088 cable for one external port – hopefully won’t have to use two such cables because of timing issues). Every question I asked of Areca was answered within 24 hrs, even though I don’t own the product. That gave me some confidence that support was forthcoming.

Appreciate everyones feedback on this and other CC forums. Let’s hope HD prices return to previous levels.

  • Thanks, I called Caldigit and received this information. John

  • Thanks! This enclosure has a 3 g/b SAS bus, I believe, so I am going to go with the Caldigit Raid card which will allow me to use only one Raid card, replacing the poorly supported Apple Raid card and the HPT 3522 and retain ability to use 8 drives. I started down this path because only the apple raid card and the hpt supported the Macpro 3,1 initially.

  • Thanks. I concur although I was using an 8-bay SAS external enclosure from ProAvio which seems to have a reasonable reputation. John

Hi, new user with very similar setup. You didn’t mention what OS version you are running. With 10.7.2 Lion you do not need any graphics driver, just the CUDA driver. Some users have had problems with the GTX 285 if they installed Nvidia drivers under Leopard, and then upgraded to Lion. If you did this, try uninstalling the Nvidia driver, as Lion provides a suitable driver (at least in 10.7.2). Hope this helps.
