    Ross,

    This may be an opportunity to review your own payment agreement.

    Until I am paid in full their copy will have a watermark (Large) as per our agreement.

    Regards, John

  • I would not assume that 48 kHz between any 2 pieces of equipment actually means 48,000 +- “0”.

    If the clip is longer, the need to “nudge” things may increase.

    Hi Ty,

    With FCP off,and your work saved, You may want to “trash your Preferences”

    I still run FCP 6, So FCP 7 maybe a little different.

  • Hi Ty,

    I am guessing you are using HD Media not DV. (Log and Capture for DV, Log and Transfer for HD)

    I will bring in the clips and make sure I label them as such;

    Bal RR 1211 S1 C2 T2 meaning Balboa (Venue), RR=name of show (Rock & Roll), Year/Month (12-2011), S1(Show number), C2 (Camera #2), Tape Number (2)

    Before each show we use a Flash with all the cameras running for future sync (No time code for DV and many Prosumer HD cameras. FCP adds the time code.

    I then match up the flash (on the timelines) and adjust from there.

    If you could provide more information, I may be able to offer more help.

    Regards, John

    If it is to be used to protect the client from “Stealing” your Work, I use the “Time Code” feature in FCP.

    That way they can see the video and make notes of the Time Code, Put this on a Copy you send to them.

    Or I sometimes use a watermark that states “Working File”. Harder to do with Audio.

    This is kind of my work flow, This I posted at Ken Stone. Net a few months ago;

    There is a lot to be said for having everything Jam Synced as Ronny states (if your equipment allows for this, $$$),My equipment or my budget do not.

    It is my understanding that;

    If you do not have the equipment to “Jam Sync”, You might try this.

    Try to get one good Sound Track to your “Main Camera” Pull this off the Audio Mixer.

    Start all your cameras and ck. focus, audio lvl, and WB.

    About 5 minutes prior to starting the show, go around and start recording.

    Use a Clap Board or flash to match up your VIDEO not Audio, Note the clap board is used with light behind it, and as it snaps shut, The light stops and you sync to light/no light Frame.

    Now go around and re-focus on what you want to shoot.

    When you go to edit, Just line up the video in the timelines, Now just line up your clapboard or flash in your 4 or 7 timelines. (this should take less then 5 minutes) Your Video is now is Sync, Your audio may NOT be.

    Yes it is possible to have the video in sync with other video tracks and not have the audio in-sync with the other audio tracks.

    Your Video is recording (Seeing) the the subject at the speed of Light (184,000 miles per second) Your audio is reaching your cameras at the speed of sound (1 foot per Ms 1/1000 of a second).

    In my case camera #1 is about 100 feet away from the subject (1/10 of a second or 3 Frames) Another camera is 25 feet from the subject or 25 Ms, or one frame, and even though the performer is only 1 foot away from their Mic, by the time it goes thru the mixer and to a camera it could be off 1/10 of a second (latency).

    Does this matter? Yes and no, If you are not pushed in to close, Maybe not. In an Extreme Close Up, with a singer or speaker it might.

    All you do then is un- link the video from the audio and Lock the Video and slide the audio to match.

    Please keep in mind that you would have the same problem if everything was “Jam Synced”. or if you use Plural Eyes.

    I use 4 cameras and try to get a clean audio track that is the best match for all 4 video tracks, If it does not work i simply make adjustments.

    I have gone round and round trying to figure out the quickest way that I can afford to sync everything, and the above method is it for me.

    I am not talking about Video/Audio drifting out of sync with each other, (from 1 camera) which is another issue, also easy to adjust.

    Just my opinions, Please feel free to correct the above comments.

    Regards, John

    Hi Daniel,

    Did you ever get “Plural Eyes “to Work?

    I have not gone to Plural Eyes because i have Heard of this Issue before.

    We shoot with 4 cameras, A DSR-500 (184 minutes) and 3 PD-150s (60 Minutes)

    I just match everything to the DSR-500 in post.

    Brian,

    The DSR-500 only shoots in DVCAM, Not Mini-DV.

    You can record to a Mini-DV tape, however the DSR-500 will record at DVCAM speed.

    60 minute Mini DV tape will record about 40 minutes in a DVCAM Camera (DSR-500).

    John

  • That sounds cool, Now if the App. were $1.99 or Less…..

    Regards, John
