My suggestion is that you perform an experiment, and then give us your findings.

Try 1/60 for 10 seconds, double it for 10 seconds, and so on. Then compare the various looks that each one gives you. There is no right answer.

Having shot waterskiing before, I can tell you that at 1/60 you get nice white waterspray. At 1/500 or above you get water droplets for the spray.

Problem solved. Software bug confirmed.

I isolated the problem to be the fact that the AVI files I use are DV type 1. Architect prefers type 2.

The Engineers at Sony Creative verified that Architect not working with DV 1 is a bug. They expect to fix it in a future release.

Thank you for taking the time to point out the differences between AVI, format, containers, and MPEG 2.

Why does DVD architect 3.0 work perfectly with all my AVI files and DVD architect 5.0 not work on any of the same files?

Did version 5.0 become worse? Or do I have a bad installation?

I would be interested in your report on a real Nano. In particular I wonder if the Nano responds to record, stop commands from the camera or from a remote device. Or would I have to press record on the nano, and then use the camera to control zoom?

Any chance of coming out with a 2 x extender for the factory fujinon lense on the EX3? I understand the tricky part is the hot shoe feature of the lense.
