Did you go to windows 10?? Not a good idea. Many folks on this forum have had similar problems with windows 10.

I think an R9 video card would have been a better choice. I have one in my Toshiba 4K laptop and have no problems playing back footage out of the Go Pro at 4K or 1920 by 1080. The best part is when I render with the newest version of Sony 13 the processors all accelerate well above the 2.6 they are rated at. The only issues I have is the scaling issue. I can live with that. A note here, Sony’s newest build does a better job on the scaling issue It’s better but it is still there.

What video card are you using? Be careful that your card can handle the 4 k res. I have seen this problem when trying to render 4k with a card set at a lower res as it can’t cope with the higher resolution of the video. Your monitor is not the only item which has to be powerful to handle 4k. When this issue happened to me I saw an indication POPUP the card crashed.

September 29, 2015 at 4:15 am in reply to: Render Settings for 1080p/50i to full hd, quality problemsHere is a Video shot with that same camera and rendered with the Main Concept codec at 30 frames.. I find the quality quite good. For the life of me I don’t understand why people use the Sony codec because when I use it works, but the video isn’t nearly as smooth as it is with the Main Concept. I also find the quality to be as good as the Sony. I made 3 DVD,s for the owner of the plane and they came out just beautiful. I rendered them from the tools menu to burn DVD. Worked great. My question to you is are you rendering to DVD or Blue Ray. You have to burn to Blue Ray if you want 1920 by 1080.

Have you added any codec packs before the problem started. If so that might be your problem.

I just installed the latest version of Vegas 13 in my Toshiba laptop 4 k version with the R9-265 video chip and it has fixed all the issues with 4k. It plays great on the timeline and renders 4 K without any problems. It uses gpu acceleration on both playback and rendering with either the Sony or Main Concept codec. Here is the best part, it fixes the scaling issues in the display. It never freezes or crashes. All I can say is Sony really got it right with this update. Steve give gpu acceleration a try. They really got it right
Good job Sony!!!!
