Your computer has plenty of horsepower for this, but Raid config can make a big difference. I gave up on Vegas 8.1 64bit recently, and went back to 8.0c which works great. I don’t think 8.1 is quite ready for primetime yet. Good Luck.

I had the same question a few months ago. Maybe I am thinking of Premiere Pro (haven’t used it in a long time), but the actual color of the track could be changed to a different color from the standard black. Adding a fade up or down to the beginning or end of an event by dragging the actual beginning or end resulted in a fade to the actual track which is black. Anyone?

ACDSee Pro is one of the best image management programs out there. Have been using this product since version 3.0. I often use it in conjuction with Vegas, dragging images from the ACDSee Thumbnail browser straight into the Vegas Timeline when Explorer in Vegas is not enough. It is the easiest and fastest program that I have ever used for batch processing, and that includes Photoshop. However, it is not free.

I have been running up to 300 ft. from a multicam switcher for many years in a variety of conditions. Sometimes just straight from the camera. We always use top grade cable with BNC connectors. We also have some 100′ Svideo (YC) cables that work fine. You can also use Firewire if you get the right boosted cable or a standalone booster. We have run 70′ ft. Firewire with no booster numerous times to a Firewire to composite breakout (a simple DV camcorder will work).If you want to go wireless, just rent. The bigger rental houses will give you all of the detail and prices. Good Luck!

David, are you saying that you can burn HD material on the Vegas timeline, under the BluRay setting, onto a standard DVD using a standard DVD burner?

In the 80’s and early 90’s, Sony had a realtime interface hardware pierce referred to as a ‘Sony Box’. I realtime FX unit for analog linear deck to deck editing – old school! I have a Sony Box – a DVC-MA firewire to analog to firewire interface for capturing and monitoring DV tapes/footage. What do you mean?
