If MB Looks isn’t in your budget try matching the look with FCPs color corrector or use Color which is a part of the suite. Once you have the look you want it’s easy to apply it where it’s needed.

I’m not sure what to tell you. I don’t recall ever working with .DV files. Maybe try changing the extension of one file to .mov and see if that works. Otherwise, try exporting the .dv to .mov from QT. I’d use QT7.6 rather than the new QTX. I don’t know how that would affect quality, but if you try a file, you’ll see.

Your links add up to about $7500. Cine lenses alone will eat the remaining budget for just 2 lenses. Even going with lower cost lenses it will be a challenge to fit all you’re asking for into the remaining $7500. I suggest you call B&H and talk to them about your needs and have them give you some options.

Or, if the Ikan doesn’t loop thru, Matthew’s idea might work in reverse. Feed the signal to the recorder and loop out of that to the monitor.

Digital Rebellion has a free app called Preferences Manager. That allows you to trash them, store them, etc. You repair permissions using Disk Utility (in your Applications folder>Utilities). Start Disk Utility, select your drive and click repair permissions. Don’t bother verifying, just repair. Also, if you don’t own Disk Warrior I suggest you get it. It has saved me uncountable times. IMHO every Mac owner should have it. In Mt Lion, go to the Finder>Go menu, hold down Option and the Library folder will appear. Look for com.apple.FinalCut.plist in the Preferences folder.

Sample rates differences could cause this behavior especially of FCP is doing sample rate conversion on the fly. Check the sample rate of your file & the sample rate in your seq settings. They should be the same. Also, if you’re using an IO such as an AJA that has a ref video in, if there’s a problem with the ref ( or lack of it) that can cause snaps & crackles.

If they are out of phase centering them will cause the problem. Listen to just one track and if it’s fine the channels are out of phase. You can pick left or right amd use just that track. If you need more gain, you can copy the file and paste the copy in the other track.
