Google free whoosh. I’ll bet you’ll find some that way. Also, programs like Apple’s Garage Band and other loop-based programs have SFX, some including whooshes.

Sounds right. And encode is probably the same as submit. Try it and see how it turns out. If the encode for the entire film is too long, export a short segment to test your settings. When you’re happy, do the entire encode.

LEDs may look great, but they use a new specialized connector to hook to your graphic card. Make sure you have an appropriate card. And if you eventually want to add a second monitor, you may have problems.

Do you have an external broadcast-quality monitor? It’s the only way to know what your program looks like on “TV.” Your program will look different on TV monitors compared to computer monitors. To get an identical look you may have to grade two versions – one for computer/web and one for TV. That said, you may be seeing differences exacerbated by how your computer monitor is set up – what gamma selection you’re using.

You’d use 16×9 as you shot 720P. As for Compressor 2, it’s been awhile since I’ve looked at it so I don’t know if the settings, etc. are the same. The principle is the same. Search here and in the DVDSP forum for older posts about Compressor 2 & DVDSP (which I believe has been the same for a couple of FCP versions).

For a DVD: Export a Self-contained, Current Settings QT movie, do not use QT Conversion. Bring this file into Compressor and use the DVD Best Quality 90 Minute setting one for video (mv2) and one for audio (ac3). For the video setting in Compressor’s Inspector turn on Frame Controls and change all quality settings to Best. For the ac3 setting change the Compression Preset from Film Standard to None and Dialog Normalization from -27 dbFS to -31 dbFS. When Compressor finishes the encode, start DVD Studio Pro and import both files. Drag them into a Track, set the track for First Play and adjust the track parameters for Display Mode: 16×9 Letterbox. Then Build/Format the DVD. For more detail, search the Cow and you’ll find it.

We use a Porta Brace CO-BB we’ve had since 1993. We tried with the 500 as planes & overheads got smller and it’s worked. It’s a soft case. We’ve got it on small jets like theCanadaAir and Embraers. Not always above, but it fits under the seat.

Don’t forget you’ll need a broadcast monitor, a fast RAID and sound system (mixer & speakers). Also, tape machines for I/O if various producers will be using your facility.
