Is your audio 48k and 16/24 bit? If not, try converting it to those specs outside of FCP (in QT for instance) and then re-import.

Are the FW drives and deck/cam on the same FW buss? That often causes problems.

You can try pasting attributes using levels. Make an audio edit the way you want it, copy it, then paste attributes-levels. The only problem is you’ll still have to adjust the nodes for timing. But, it might save a little time.

You can drag both transitions to a bin in the browser (just drag the transition from the timeline) and then drag the desired transition from the bin to an edit point each time you need it.I don’t know of a way to have 2 default transitions.

How about laying off the SD material to Digi-beta, then recapturing with a Kona card (or similar) and let it do the real time up-conversion to HD.

What’s the capacity of your drive and how much space is left before you try to export your file? Is it an external or system drive? Have you emptied the trash?

Why can’t you output a large file? If you have room on your drive, FCP should easily do this. Describe your setup and workflow. However, if you’re stuck with having to split things up, do a test and see if you can combine 2 of your segments inside DVDSP. Make a DVD and see if it works. A DVD’s faster & cheaper than testing with Blu-ray and it will tell you if your join point works.
