Do you have any gaps between clips? If so, try inserting slugs between them and try again. I’ve noticed that FCP can lose sync when gaps aren’t filled. I never noticed this before, but it’s possible this has just started with v7. There have been a couple of posts about it.

I’ve not used Plural Eyes, but I believe it “looks at” the audio in each clip then moves like clips together. Each clip has to have audio before Plural Eyes can do it’s thing. Have you lined up all the video clips to their respective audio and merged them? After that, Plural Eyes should work.

Make sure the audio is PCM 48kHz 16 or 24 bit. If it’s not, open the audio in ST Pro or QT Pro (any external audio app will do) and export it with those parameters. Another thing to try – in fact, try this first – is an Audio Mixdown: Sequence Menu > Render Only > Mixdown.

Ty, what frame rate was the camera shooting? Before importing your files, use an Easy Setup for your frame rate. Quit FCP. Now reopen FCP and reimport your files. This is a procedure that Jeremy Garchow suggested and it’s worked in many cases where a Pro Tools mix didn’t sync up to the video for which it was made. When all parameters – sample rate, 29.97 or 23.976 video, etc. – were correctly set in PT.

Use ST Pro to learn the noise and remove it. It’s fairly simple and the manual explains it well.

It may be a case of mega-bits vs. mega-bytes. There are 8 buts in a byte, so 3.2 mega-bytes/s = 8 x 3.2 = 25.6 mega-bits/sec.

I have never used QT Conversion to make video files – only audio and stills. And I’ve seen many people warn against using QT Conversion for video. I’m not sure what issues it creates. Try Compressor. Just use the H.264 preset to see if the encode completes. If it does, then tweak the settings and encode your final. I just used Compressor to make a beefy H.264 file for upload to YouTube (from DVCPro HD) and it looked great.
