I was so excited to find this only to have my hopes squashed. I’m using CC and the feature no longer works or the instructions are missing vital information.

January 14, 2011 at 1:30 am in reply to: 23.98 time code window burn issue

Just to add another 2 cents to Matt’s reply:

The Timecode 23.98 means the “film” plays back at a speed of 23.976 – just a little slower than 24 fps.

The same way that normal video TC of 29.97 plays back at the speed of 29.97 – just slightly slower than 30 fps.

The reason for the slow down is complicated – just know that it is slowed down. But in both cases, even though it’s running at 23.98, it still has a full set of 24 frames that make up 1 second – they’re just played at the speed of 23.98.

Same story with 29.97 – still has the full set of 30 frames per second. Played at the speed of 29.97.

    So yes, you select 24fps.

The Compressor mismatching TCs issue has been an annoyance from the start and why it still is a major bug in FS3 is a mystery to me.

September 9, 2010 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Keyboard Shortcut – Selecting a clip in timeline?

It is more than a couple of keyboard clicks, but to me, it’s easier than reaching for the mouse to click on a clip in the time line.

For syncing dailies, I have all the clips laid out one after another in the timeline.

    1. Starting on first clip click X – marks in and out, Option-A – selects that one clip, Option-X – removes in and out marks.

    2. I find the slate clap and hit M – adds a marker to clip.

    3. Hit down arrow – goes to next clip

    Repeat and rinse 😉

Once clip is selected, you can also move it around with the arrow keys while holding down the Option key.

It works for me – once I got into a rhythm.
