Thanks again guys for the input. I’m gonna go out on a limb and say you can’t keep 720p 23.98 footage native when going to tape. The DVCPRO HD deck can be set to 720p 23.98 and you can set the Kona output to match but and it’s a big BUT, you cannot record to tape at that frequency. At least I can’t.
Shane if you look closely at the DVCPRO HD VFR settings, the video output is 59.94 not 23.98. So, I can’t seem to retain the 23.98fps.
Doing a pulldown and adding frames, etc. can be a problem dependent on the content of the video. It can create a host of artifacting, aliasing
and other issues.
VFR may be a solution when downconverting to SD. Thanks for that suggestion.
