Hey Mark,
Check with Apple to make sure that drive isn’t under warranty. I had one replaced in our 2009 imac for free, no apple care or anything.

I ordered the day they came out and will get delivery by the first week of January. I don’t think Apple will bill until they ship it, so you probably won’t make the 12/31 cutoff.

One caveat to that I’d throw out there Bob is that multiple OS’s on the same system may interfere with media browser within FCPX. Certain things might not show up correctly in FCPX (like iPhoto videos, iTunes libraries, and Final Cut Pro SFX).

It’s perfect for me. Most of the benefits of an SSD without the limitations on space. I think it’s a great compromise until SSD’s prices come down and can completely replace spinning disks. I did get Apple care because this is somewhat new (for apple) technology. If we find the drives have issues a year down the line, I’m covered.
