Oh, right. I was thinking you were slowing clips down. Think of Optical Flow as a smoothing option to help offset slow motion stuttering (like Twixtor in After Effects).

Oh, and when you’re done. Go back into the speed change menu arrow and under video quality, play with frame blending or optical flow. Sometimes those provide really awesome results.

Put the clip on a non-primary track. Select the clip and make it 2x or whatever. Whichever you choose doesn’t matter. Then, once the speed is changed, you’ll have a retiming bar at the top of it. Drag that to whatever length/speed you like.

    It’s pretty dang easy :).

Interesting, I’m blanking on this. BUT, perhaps the solution is to slow the footage down to 50%. THEN, drag the clip speed control until it’s at say, 99% instead of 50%, and under video quality menu under the speed control change the video quality to say ‘frame blending’.

    Hope that helps!

I’d put another SSD in it. Really, 4 years is pretty long in the tooth for any hard drive these days. I’d be concerned about any drive that’s old than 3.

I dont know if thats actually the case, but we keep big media out of them and only use referenced clips. This way sdi’s are basically database and render file containers. We have a few hundred now with no corruptions in almost a year. I have heard of one guy who had a corrupted one, but he was able to get his media out. FWIW.

Ned, can you run software update to 10.8.3? The latest FCPX update requires that I think.

No certification for us :). It would interfere with our gambling and drinking addictions.
