All you would need to do is select the layer in the timeline and press Cntl+D(to duplicate the layer). You can clear all the current selections(masks, effects…) by pressing F2 first, the select the layer and press Cntl+D to duplicate.

Click the layer in the project panel, and the layer size will appear at the top of the panel. If you right click it in the timeline and choose, “Reveal Layer Source in Project”, that will find the asset in your project panel. Also you can just type in the name in the search bar to find.

You can record and re-encode using camtasia. Do your screen capture(I always use the camrec file), then in camtasia use the publish/produce options to encode to an avi, mov, DNxHD. If you use avi, you will have to change from tech smith codec to microsoft(?). All should be good from there.

To follow up, Camtasia can encode to a bunch of different formats, so you probably need to open up Camtasia and choose something that works better with AE.

That’s a very high level animation, from a very skilled(or team) of After Effects users. Also there literally are dozens of different techniques used in it, so to point you to a tutorial isn’t really even possible, since you didn’t really indicate what you wanted to learn. If there are specific things you want to do, please describe and tell us the time in the video they appear.
Here’s the stock answer, you need to learn the basics and for that I would say start here: Getting started with After Effects (CS4, CS5, CS5.5, CS6, & CC)
One tutorial I saw recently might help, since the video you showed used a lot of the Plexus Plugin(it’s used a few times in the video), an alternative would be to do something like this: Connect the Dots

Post a screen grab of your timeline, with the text parameters open, because you can absolutely add motion blur to text, that is animating via text animators.

You can create masks on other layers, using the shape/mask tools, but you won’t have all the animators or controls of a shape layer. Can you describe in more detail what you are trying to accomplish?

Assuming you dont want to blur your talent—you are going to need to rotoscope her. Separate her from the background, blur the offending sign in the background. 3 layers, top layer is talent, middle layer is blurred, masked sign area only(including person), bottom layer untouched. The trick is the rotoscoping.
What you want to do is EDIT first, or you would effecting material you won’t use. Me, on the top layer, I would do a loose mask around the person, then just feather it. It’s pretty much accepted technique for blurring to have it be somewhat loose.
