    Assuming you arranged your shapes in the comp and parented them to a null object in the center of the screen. Open up the rotation property of of one your objects and “alt + click” to open the expression editor. Type in “-(” then pick whip to the null’s rotation property. Finally close the expression with another “)”. You should get this:

    -(thisComp.layer("Null 1").transform.rotation)

    Simply you are telling your objects to rotate the exact opposite way the parent is rotating.

    FAQ: Why is my output file huge, and why doesn’t it play back smoothly in a media player?

    The best way to reduce file size is to take the uncompressed file into a compressor(Media Encoder)and choose a compression that will work best for your needs.

    Can you post some pictures? It’s the third icon from the right. And if all else fails, you could post the project, since it doesn’t have external assets(last icon).

  • Is your paint splash a custom particle? If thats the case you could put multiple paint splashes into your custom particle layer, as each particle is generated they will be layered on top of the previous sprites.

    Here’s a simple example project I made to illustrate the technique. In my example I changed the emitter to a box emitter with a z dimension of 0 and the emitter velocity to 0.

    For your solid layer(this is the one that is suffering the quality loss?) do you have the Continuously Rasterize button selected. It’s the icon that looks like a little sun and will cause the layer to rerasterize as it scales up.

    Doesn’t require editing deep in AE, there are 2 easy ways to adjust the ease. Right click the keyframe in question and select keyframe velocity. The other way would be use the graph editor. Click the last icon above your switches that looks like a sin wave, click the parameter that you would like to adjust and physically sdjust the handles of the ease.

    I didn’t need to do any math. I entered a keyframe for 0 and one for 40,000,000 and it worked fine, didn’t need to divide anything.

    Add an “Angle Control” effect to your layer then change the first line of the expression to:

    slider = effect(“Angle Control”)(“Angle”);

    July 13, 2012 at 12:51 pm in reply to: After Effects CS4 Memory and processor settings

    You probably know this, but you are woefully underpowered with RAM. Under Edit -> P)references -> Memory & Multiprocessing, make sure multiprocessing is turned off. With your setup, don’t turn on any other applications or software when rendering, you barely have enough to run AE and your OS at ths same time.

    You could attempt to isolate the problem by turning off 1 layer at a time and set up a render to determine the cause of the problem.

    If all else fails, collect your files(under the File tab), bring the project to somebody who has a more powerful system and have them render it.
