I think you may be right. In batch monitor it seems to take forever to split the job up for the different threads before it starts the transcoding process. I guess I’ll only really see the benefit on bigger jobs then…

Should also point out that both are running the same OS and both had no other background tasks running. Tried a few more times just to check the times were consistent, and they are. I’m baffled..

Had a quick google search as Simon suggested and this really is everywhere isn’t it? I never even knew it was a technique before, and now I can’t stop seeing it!

Ah I knew it must have a name!

I wouldn’t have chosen it myself, it was a request from a client – they want the style to match previous work they have done, so I’ll have to do my best (fairly new to video..)
