Hey Guys, thank you for the confirmation on this. I am going to get this system going this week. I just got back from Fry’s Electronics and I got a 16 gig CLASS 10 for 50 bucks. May be the class 10 will be a tad faster, hopefully. Is there any Sony warranty issues that may come with using this alternative method?

    Thanks,
    John

Thomas, thank you so much for your post and supportive tip on handling Sony. Luckily, they have been responsive because we communicated with them the settings in which we used it. We Broadcast Globally 5 times a week. We have been an all Sony operation for 5 years using their high end SD cameras, shading, painting, and switching solutions.

I am thinking I want to make my new HD studio an EX-3 (3 camera) package but if they can’t get the lens problem worked out then I may have to rethink my options. Sony has been good for us so I do want to give them every chance to make this right.

Sorry to hear about your problems with them but, has the new lens given you any problems?

    Thanks again,
    John Cookman

Richard, I have been going through some serious focus issues with my EX-3. I have read in a couple of places that this was also an issue with the EX-1. We have talked to sony and they gave us a few things to do with in the camera to help correct the back focus respond better. We have executed these tips but it didn’t help.

I find that when the camera gets out of focus (usually in a close up shot or a really wide shot) that if we turn the camera off and then back on it will be perfectly in focus when it restarts. I don’t know if this is exactly what is happening with yours but I think that your resolution to this problem may be exactly what we need as well.

The Next step for us is to send the camera to Sony. Do you have any other ideas on how we may be able to fix this problem without sending it back.

Do you think this problem is in the camera or the lens? The problem is only in the included Fujinon Lens. We have a Manual 18X Studio lens that we use on it as well and there are no problem when I use ths lens.
