First thing I did. All drivers, Video card, Premiere, windows……..

I’m having the same problem on an editing workstation with CS6. The audio will stop playing after 4-5 seconds, video plays fine. The timeline has been rendered. If I hit the stop/pause key, (spacebar), and hit it again, it will play for another 4-5 seconds before the audio drops out. Sometimes only one audio track will stop playing.
Audio is 48K, 16 bit.
Video is 720P, two audio tracks, three video tracks. System is win 7-64 with an intel I7 extreme CPU, 12 GB RAM (9GB dedicated to Premiere, performance mode)
Any suggestions?

July 12, 2012 at 7:48 pm in reply to: Anyone else disappointed in Apple’s “new” Mac Pro?I’ve been building my own Windows based edit systems for the past 12 years now. The best part about it is that I’m not tied to any one company so I’m not reliant on when THEY want to improve anything.
I’m also free to pick the best parts available, hmm…..I like THAT motherboard, THAT CPU…..THAT video card….THAT memory…….you get the idea.
Win7-64 has been great. Do I get the BSOD? maybe one a year…..if that. Using teh Adobe suite has been sweet. Apple?….well if I want and apple, I’ll just go to the grocery store.

Unless a contract between a video company and the client SPECIFICALLY states that the work is a ‘work for hire‘, then the client has no claim whatsoever to the footage.
The video company owns ALL RIGHTS to the footage. There is no such thing as ‘shared ownership’ unless an agreement is in place that has a clause for sharing of the copyrights.
As for the model releases, you will always need a model release, always.

WOW, paying tax on top of tax, on top of expenses? No wonder people are ditching CA.

April 3, 2012 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Government Bids (been talked about before, just venting)As someone who works for a government agency, (federal), and is a contract technical representative, it sounds as though someone is rigging the bid. To specify that the company has to have won awards is not indicative of how well they will perform.
My take on these ‘awards’ are that they are nothing more than a means for the awarding organization to make money from the ‘entry fee’ and for the award ‘winner’ to hang a gold star on their wall, hoping it will give them some credibility.
I’m not sure how to challenge a contract in the state or local arena but this one sure needs it from what you’ve said. I’d suggest you start by contacting the contracting officer for the agency and go from there if you want to persue it.

I’m trying to figure out why anyone would want to edit on-line. What’s the advantage?

March 1, 2012 at 10:01 pm in reply to: Exclusive, non-exclusive and copyright license hand over ratesThe only time it’s ‘likely’ to be a work for hire is if the contract specifically states that it’s a work for hire. Absent a specific clause stating that the job is a work for hire, the maker owns all copyrights. Period.
