January 18, 2006 at 8:50 pm in reply to: Final Cut Pro – Edit to tape accuracy – does it exist?I have never had frame accuracy problems (we master to PVW-2800 with RS422 connection), but……. until yesterday, I had never done an INSERT EDIT on my (6 month old) Final Cut system. Assemble edits have always worked just fine, and have been frame accurate. However, when I went to INSERT 30 seconds into an already mastered tape, ONLY THE VIDEO GOT RE-INSERTED. I tried over and over again, and tried many different settings and configurations, but nothing allowed for the audio to get inserted. I ended up doing my ASSEMBLE edits all over again.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

I didnt’ see the import Batch as an option.

VideoTraxx gives you excellent value. But a great place to go when you’re looking for a special collection is fotosearch.com
It’s a site that lets you peruse stuff from all the stockhouses, but provides a nice central location.
Good Luck

Bernard,
“The Galaxy HDX is a Fibre Channel storage. File sharing therefore requires one or more server.”
Actually with the FibreJet software you don’t need a server involved. Drives are stripped HFS+ and show up through the fibre channel HBA just like any other direct attached storage. After making your partitions you then use the FibreJet software to assign read/write access to indivual clients(computers) that are attached to the fibre switch. Having no servers involved is one reason I really like this solution.

Thanks for your response. The Rorke Galaxy does use fibreJet meaing the drives will be formatted HFS+.
After talking to some people who are currently using the Galaxy I am pretty sure I will be going this route. Once I get the system up an running I will post my finding for all in this forum.
Thanks

July 29, 2005 at 11:13 am in reply to: Xsan / Xraid or Rorke Galaxy HDX with imageSAN2 with FCP 5 and Kona2Thanks for the great responses. If anyone has a suggestion for a good VAR in/or near the Ohio area that would be great. The dealer I have talked to said they can do it but sometimes I don’t have the greatest of confidence in them.
Also, does anyone have any experience with Rorke Data?
Thanks again

Pixelan makes wipe plug-ins. I have used them and they have a large selection. Here is the page that describes transitions they have for FCP. You can even download a trail version.

I have noticed you get even better results when you choose “save as” and select PNG for the file type. The type seems to be much crisper. Much like the JPEG method you will end up with a folder with all your PNG files. Also, these PNG files are usually saved at 720 X 540 so you wil have to convert them to whatever pixel ratio you are working in.
3 additional things to check
1.Check safe title! Most clients completely ignore title safe when creating power points.
2.Watch out for thin lines (less then 3 pixels) these will flicker in the TV world.
3. If you client’s PowerPoint originally existed on a PC you will want to do you the “save as” from the PC. This will ensure the type and graphics show up the same way they do on your clients PC.
