I have a JVC GR-D270 Camcorder that stores the video on tape. It also has a memory card for still photos. The latter can be transfered to the PC via USB. The video must use Firewire. This seems to be the standard. It is with horror that I find out that practically all laptops on display for sale at the local Best Buy don’t have a Firewire port. Somhow it seems that there will have to be a market for an interface between the 1394 and USB3 since the latter only will be present on the next generation of Laptops. The nucks have also done away with the PCMCIA slot and thus preclude the use of the avaiable card that takes 3 1394 6 pin and one 4 pin Firewire cable input. Somebody is out to kill the video tape corders and fronting it with a saleman who is an ass. Go get your laptop exchanged. It is not fit for your purpose. Tell them I said so!
