Have you tried just setting the Field Dominance to None?

I’d go ProRes HQ since your source animations have 4:4:4 chroma subsampling.

But if you need an alpha channel, ProRes 4444.

Precompose the parent layer, leaving all attributes in the main comp.
Lock your current window, double click your precomp layer, and make your adjustments.

For a cool name, I like Zoë.

Is there a colored bar (orange or yellow) above your clip in the sequence? This means you need to render.

Could you post a screen grab of your FCP UI, as well as one of your sequence settings?

I believe the method that Todd stated is pretty much the standard; and deservedly so for its simplicity and effectiveness, the others involving unnecessary steps. No nulls or expressions needed.

A null would come in handy if you needed to match motion to a layer offset from the position of the tracker, and an expression would be the ticket if you wanted to give it some drag, gravity, random wiggle or whatnot.

Well, unless I misunderstand your question, you actually just stated your comp settings precisely.

    2048×1556 (mask for 2048×858)

Which is actually an AE comp preset, Film 2K.

That’s it, pretty much. Just add mask or masked solid for letterboxing, the borders of which would be…let’s see…(1556-858)/2 = um, 349 pixels in from the top and bottom edge of the comp, it seems.

Did they tell you what delivery format they require?
