The main reason was it took over 11 hours to export the first time (I started at 6am, left, got back and it didn’t finish until 5pm) and I have a film festival deadline tomorrow (or today now) and I did not want to risk it, so it was because of the specific case. Also, I accidentally uninstalled FCP when I was installing DVDSP, so I would have had to wait another 45min or so for that to download. But again, now I know for the future.

Hi,

thanks. What I did was converted it to ProRes 422 w/ mpg streamclip, then imported that into DVDSP and it looks good. The main concern was that iDVD was cutting off the edges of the picture, so I needed a way to get to DVDSP. Thank you though because now I know for the future not to waste the time to export an H.264 file…it took over 15 hours for a 25min short film.

Haha thanks. I am not new to FCP but I had never installed it before and I assumed that it was more complicated than just a regular update.

I updated to FCP 6, and now they play in QT.

FCP 5.0.4–but it plays fine there

QT–7.6.4

I captured the footage using my Sony HVR-A1u (it was also shot on that), just straight through with a firewire…nothing fancy. My capture setting was HDV, my sequence setting was HDV 1080i60. I think the problem is within Quicktime, not FCP.
