Hopping in here. I’ve had the same problem with both D5 and our HDSR deck going on for almost 2 years now. Luckily all of our content is short form, so no big deal. Usually just dupes first frame of bars, but if I need to insert or assemble edit I always mark in a sec or 2 in black before picture. We tried forever to fix this awhile back but just gave up.

Plagiarizing here….
i did a whole three strip process for an episode of the webshow i do wherein i had three seperate instances of the footage stacked. i only allowed one for green, one for red, and one for blue. then i tweaked the green a little towards yellow, the red a little towards magenta, and blue a lot towards cyan and blend them back together. then you compress the midtones. i was very pleased with my results.

I can’t find the tutorial, but I’m pretty sure you can do this with vector paint. Do a search.

Can you be a little more specific? No idea what you’re referring to. Take a look at colorama though…

Yeah, I just finished a project providing footage for some booths at Comic Con and it all was going to be displayed on a 16×9 monitor. Unfortunately half of the material was 4×3 FF so in fcp I just squeezed 33% in on the horizontal and exported reference movies and imported straight into a 16×9 project in DSP. All of my stuff is generally short form and I don’t even bother with compressor.

I dunno. He said he has stuff shot at 4×3 anamorphic and I thought that was a little weird. The only time I have seen 4×3 anamorphic is when you have non 16×9 material and it is going to be displayed FOR SURE on a 16×9 display.

Hi John,
Mono would still be broadcast if a stereo mix was not available. My audio engineer here will “fake” a stereo from a mono with plugins in protools if absolutely necessary.
Broadcast these days is generally 2 channel stereo or 5.1 for the HD channels.
You should be safe if you just double up the good track and fake a stereo. You really don’t have any other options it seems.

4×3 anamorphic? You mean a pillarbox on 4×3 material? Are you sure it’s not 16×9 anamorphic?

Never mind! Sorry this was a legacy problem. I guess new updates fixed it. But I know it USED to be a problem. In the timline BTW.

If you shot DV and you need to deliver digibeta, it’s going to look like poop. And going by your specs your client seems to want the best they can get.
I don’t know premiere, but I would suggest creating a new sequence with PAL 8 or 10 bit uncompressed and plop in your dv footage. You will need to render and see how it looks. Or you could do this in AE as well.
Unfortunately I don’t think it will pass muster and you might need to reshoot on digi. Oh, and you could buy a deck if you want if you have a spare 60k around or so…
