Yeah, I’d agree – if your renting, not owning, certainly EX1 for tapeless workflow. I rented a Z1 outta Jakarta once when all my other cameras were i the field and I got royally screwed – the only way to play back the footage properly was through that particular camera. How ferked up is that? Anyway, tapeless for sure. I’ve got an EX3 and it rocks.

Hi Paul,
Did you find a workable solution for a shoulder mount?
I bought the ST-7 shoulder mount for my EX3. It feels good on your shoulder, can take a sony quick release plate and as a sony v mount on the back. It’s not quit as balanced as a full shoulder mounted camera – a bit front heavy. There’s space between the back of the camera and the v mount which could hold wireless bits and pieces, or a nano flash.
My problem with the ST-7 is that you can’t put rails on it. I’ve considered welding rail guides to it, was wondering too if anyone else has a solution for matte box with the ST-7.
Best,
Joe

Hi Rafa,
How’d it go w the heli? I’m just back from extended shoots in Sumatra and Flores. The small heli’s are a real pain to shoot from in absence of a stabilizing system and with a small camera. I’ve found that, if we’re two people in back, I direct the pilot to fly towards the other side so the photog buffets the wind. Obviously you and the photog or extra passenger have to work together on this. The other thing is having the back seat to yourself and still shooting across. It obviously limits your view. The Kenyon, even at under 5k, seems a bit of a luxury unless your shooting aerials all the time! Then again, if you have it, you can advertise…
Love to hear about your EX and the system you’ve purchased. I’ve just put a deposit down.

Hey thanks Rafa,
So I guess the big question is…
Are we going to be broadcast compatible with the EX? Who will accept it and maybe more important, who won’t?
Nat Geo?
Discovery?
BBC?
Euro broadcasters?
N American broadcasters? We’re focusing more on Nat History / Enviro / Factual TV stuff.
This is the main reason I’ve been holding out as long as humanly possible…
Thanks and happy holidays!

Hi Rafa,
Looks like the Expandore package? Do they have them in stock? And do you know if we need to pay/book/reserve by the end of the year to get that free 8 gig card?
Thanks!

Hey thanks Rafa,
I really appreciate that and I’ll take you up on that offer one day. In fact, a buddy of mine just opened a bar in Ventienne (can’t think of the name, way to late for thinking 🙂 and we’ve been threatening to descend!
Best,

Hi Don,
Thanks for your reply. I’ve downloaded the Convergent Design info.
I was referring to Simon Wyndham but what I read was that there would be a firm ware update for cache recording where, like the F900, Varicam etc, your camera, in standby, is logging what it sees so when you hit record, like trying to get some furry creature doing some weird furry creature habit, you’ve got the previous 3-7 seconds as soon as you hit record…
Anyone aware of that or was I being dyslexic again?
