    Hi Folks,

We’re using a field audio system that includes a Sound Devices 302 mixer, Sennheiser 416 boom and Senn EW 112-P (ME-2) wireless lav.

The system has been reliable for a number of years. now suddenly, we’re having to change AA batteries nearly every hour! Ugh…

Any ideas what could be causing this?

We often switch between using the boom or lav and sometimes both. On the present shoot we’re using both.

    Thanks in advance,

    Joe

Check your mic powering setup. You don’t need phantom power for the wireless. You only need +48v on the 416. The third input should have the phantom power switch set to off.

If the problem persists, try resetting the mixer. I think the instructions are on the quick card attached to the bottom of the mixer.

    Hi Will,

We’ll try this out and I’ll let you know how things go.

    Thanks very much,
