Sarcasm? Funny thing that term… specially when you are posting on the internet… it is one of those terms that means nothing and everything all at the same time.

No offense Mr Moya, but lose the attitudesarcasm. I see it too much from impatient ‘know it alls’. If you don’t have a positive answer to a members question, then stay away. Tutorials work for some, for others they can be poorly constructed. He came to this forum to ASK a ‘how to’ question, NOT search for an archived tutorial. And I personally dont appreciate you telling ANYONE that this forum is the WRONG place to ask questions first on “how to do” a specific look or effect. Forums here on the cow will be changing names some, even more in the future, to help FOCUS questions. This forum is NOT just an After Effects forum, its
whatever software works BEST to accomplish an effect or look.No offense taken… but, I did NOT post anything about this not being the place to ask questions… please reference where I posted that. Also, I believe I answered his question(s) after I asked for specifics and used references to tutorials for that purpose. Where is the “attitude” in that?
That tutorial is fine for a user thats paid the $200 some extra dollars for the plug-in. But particular is slow, and for some, diffucult to learn. It’s a perfect example of why you should ask an industry pro who has used MULTIPLE solutions to achieve an effect, and may recommend the easier,faster or better way to do the effect than the tutorial. Particular is a great example of this. Its so slow and convoluted that you NEED tutorials JUST to get something out of it.
Its a great solution for some things, but certainly not the first thing I would recommend to a new to intermediate user.I don’t why you assume the poster does not have the ability or capacity to buy (or has) the plug-in… I didn’t see a post referencing this problem. The poster only said he didn’t understand how to make a mask. Plus, he has not asked if there is an alternative way to produce the effect. I think your assumptions may be incorrect… or… not?
I am not sure what posts you are reading and how much you have decided to add to my posts… but, nothing what you have posted here is even close to what has been posted by me… well… maybe, the part about using the search function. For that one line… I might have best to have just omitted. Other than that, you seem to put a whole lot of words into my mouth.

First, you always need to create new composition when you start a new project… see drop menus at top… creat new>composition
In this example you have tow compostions… one has the text… and the other has the mask/matte. (note: the green bars that indicate: First Compostion: Text and Second Composition: Wind).
The terms “same size and length”… means… the Second composition: Wind should be the same size and length. i.e., 320X240 size and 4 sec. long (see, the first sentence in the tutorial). … these boxes are in the composition settings window that comes up whe you create the new composition.
Create new sold… see drop menus at top of the screen…. drop this into the composition… then create the mask/matte.
To create the solid mask, you “cut” the sold mask with the pen tool…. see tutorial.
Then you create the Third composition: Sand…
I think a review of a general/basic tutorial would be VERY useful to you before you attempt this sand text… specially if your native lanquage is not english.

So… you have problems making a matte…
Look at this basic tutorial:

You would create a matte very similar to this in the sand tutorial.
Using solids,… Use the pen tool to create the matte and feather the edges.

The video was made with a lot of work…
There are numerous effects that could be created in AE… your post is not specific enough to answer without a 2 hr. video tutorial plus a VERY long post.

If I read your post correctly, it would appear that your problem is removing leaves from the trees.
Have you tried simply using multiple masks to remove the leaves. It would seem that using a simple mask would solve a lot of the problems you are having.

Mocha(stand alone not Mocha-AE version) does export to AE, but not as an AE file…
Depending upon the situtation (i.e., sound or no sound)… the best exporting method I have found is to use animation/picture files in a tif format (or, any frame by frame pic format that will support alpha channels).
Imagineer is the best and easiest way I have found to roto. However, you can use AE to roto but it can be much more problematic and time consuming.
