Hey,
Just to give you my original workflow that produced these jagged lines to begin with so you can compaare to what you suggested.
I exported current settings.
Popped into compressor and used settings for ‘DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes” This is an SD DVD. But I get the jagged lines. If this setting is not correct or what you are suggesting is different let me know.
Thanks

Ok perfect.
And last thing (forgive my lack of experience here)
So my sequence in 16:9.When I go to compressor I grab the DV NTSC SD settings and drag on top. Then I go to the video settings and see scan mode is set to interlaced and aspect to 4:3. SHould I be changing those to progressive and 16:9?
Am I even using the right setting to begin with?

1080 30.
The browser doesn’t show whether its i or p. But I shot with a Canon 60D and I know it shoots 1080p so the footage is all progressive.
The only thing that would suggest my timeline isnt progressive is the aspect ratio setting at hdtv1080i.
That is the setting it automatically goes to when it asks to match the settings to footage. I want the video to still be 16:9.. should I be changing that setting? Or is it not affecting things?

My sequence has an aspect ratio set at HDTV1080i as that is the only thing that will give me my true 1080 that im shooting in. But my source footage is progressive. Does this have anything to do with the jagged lines? Maybe fields are being affected. Also which SD drag and drop setting should be used? DV NTSC?

I never full understood the Anamorphic stuff because I had never had any experience with it and I only use the default settings final cut presents to me once I import my footage.
What possible steps can be taken to figure out the field problem? If you need specific info please ask and I will answer to the best of my ability.

The footage comes from a Canon 60D shot in 1080.
When you ask for codec.. is it not accurate to say its Prores 422? If that isnt correct, maybe you can direct me instead of being arrogant.
As for my sequence, i set it to match the clip settings as prompted. all the info in my preview post is correct. Should my sequence settings not be like that given my footage? Should my aspect ratio not be 1080i? This is what Final Cut sets it to automatically when i input the footage.
From the best of my knowledge I felt like I gave you my workflow based on your questions. If it isn’t the proper description, why not help me out and guide me to the proper information instead of ripping at me post after post.. i just don’t see what that accomplishes other than make you look like an arrogant professional and me an amateur. Which I will gladly admit I am.

Ok so you spent your valuable time continuing to point out things that don’t matter.. if this is what makes you angry and upset I have no control over that.
Do you have any solutions to my issue? or will some one else come in? -
lol why are people on this forum so angry all the time? I always am seeing fights and arguing etc. Nobody has patience for the people who don’t do this every day of their life.
ANYWAY,
1. Most of the footage is in Apple Prores 422. I use Log and Transfer and that codec is the setting I use when transfering.2. 1920 x 1080 HDTV1080i 16:9
Pixel Aspect is Square
Field is Upper
compressor is 422 HQ3.select region I want to export. Export self contained at CURRENT SETTINGS. Take that file and open compressor. Add the file. Drag on 90 minutes best quality DVD settings. Submit. Take the m2v and go to DVDSP, import the assets. Add them to a track. Burn. If you read about you can see some other tests I did changing some frame controls before compressing.
As for the spelling etc.. that’s not the issue here.. why waste words? it’s NOT a final product its a rough draft mostly used for testing exporting to DVD and outputs. lol For one moment lets just relax.

Neil, when you say you convert from HD – SD first, how do you do that? In compressor? Or somewhere else?
-
ok so.. so far changing the compressor frame control setting to best for scaling didnt work. Same image quality and everything.
For the AE one. How exactly would this be done? I put the file in a new comp? Then scale the comp down? WHatare the steps for doing this properly?
